Job Description
The International Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and executing the end-to-end process of importing and exporting AG products and materials. This role ensures timely, compliant, and cost-effective transportation by working closely with Customs House Brokers, steamship lines, freight forwarders, port terminals, and internal stakeholders. A strong understanding of global supply chains, import regulations, freight movement, and customs compliance is required. This individual serves as a key liaison between internal departments, AG business units, and logistics service providers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Act as a tactical expert in the import and export process, supporting full shipment lifecycle from overseas origin to final delivery.
• Coordinate directly with steamship lines to negotiate rates, secure space, and manage bookings for targeted trade lanes.
• Monitor ocean shipments, track container status, manage drayage and delivery scheduling to ensure on-time performance to AG distribution centers.
• Receive, audit, and pay arrival notices and invoices from carriers, brokers, and other logistics service providers.
• Maintain accurate cost tracking and support Accounts Payable processes for international logistics spend.
• Support Customs compliance by researching product classifications, managing documentation, responding to Broker requests, and interpreting U.S. and Canadian Customs regulations.
• Work cross-functionally with internal departments, distribution centers, and vendors to plan, resolve issues, and ensure smooth cargo movement.
• Proactively identify process improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and service enhancements across the international supply chain.
• Provide analytical support: gather data, create reports, track KPIs, and assist with logistics-related audits and vendor performance reviews.
• Assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures for logistics, vendor coordination, and Customs activity.

Location
Experience Required:
• 1+ years of relevant, hands-on experience in international logistics, import operations, and Customs compliance.
• 1+ years of working directly with steamship lines and freight forwarders on day-to-day import operations.
• 1+ years of working with Customs House Brokers, as well as directly with US & Canadian Customs.
• 1+ years of working with Accounts Payable on the audit & payment of invoices from logistics service providers.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Strong understanding of U.S. import logistics: freight booking, ocean transit, terminal operations, delivery, and invoicing.
• Deep understanding and ability to interpret US and Canadian Customs regulations
• Good knowledge of the U.S. Harmonized Tariff Schedule
• Familiarity with rate negotiation, contract management, and cost reconciliation in international transportation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be proficient in Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and vendor interactions in a fast-paced environment.
