JOB SUMMARY:

The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for managing the payroll team, and leading the processing and maintaining of payroll data: which includes employees’ time reporting, earnings, taxes, and deductions. Individual must have working knowledge in federal, state, and local tax regulations, and exhibit excellent communication skills and detail oriented.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Lead and supervise a team of payroll specialists, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure their productivity and accuracy in payroll processing. 
  • Assist Payroll Manager in evaluating the accuracy of the payroll by monitoring, validating, and reconciling data during payroll processing, which includes validating hours, earning, deductions, and taxes.
  • Coordination of any off-cycle payments and adjustments.
  • Assist in timely processing of payroll. input of special pay requests, management of wage garnishment.
  • Respond to payroll queries from internal customers, employees, and vendors.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports for financial analysis.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes, systems, and procedures to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. This may involve implementing new payroll software, automation, or streamlining existing processes. 
  • Works in conjunction with the HR/Operations Team to answer payroll related inquiries.
  • Assists with functional testing related to ongoing system changes/upgrades.
  • Assists with year-end reconciliation.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully, however in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications and Experience may meet the job qualifications.

Education, Training, Certifications:

  • High School diploma/ GED, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements:

  • Knowledge in Payroll Compliance, federal/state/local tax regulations and the ability to analyze and provide solutions and or issue resolution.
  • 3 - 5 year(s) of Payroll Administration, preferred.

Communication Skills:

  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers. 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Systems and Software Skills:

  • Ability to operate a computer, use Microsoft Office required.

Other Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required. 
  • Must be able to comply with SFPH’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for long periods. Employee will occasionally be required to bend, kneel, balance, lift <20lb, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, drive, twist, and reach above and below shoulders.  Employee will frequently be required to drive and walk for periods.

Work Environment:

Employee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office or remote setting, work alone and with others. Employee will rarely be required to travel.
