Position Overview:
The Associate Product Developer – Knitwear plays a critical support role in bringing luxury knitwear collections to life, working closely with the Senior Product Developer and cross-functional teams. This role is responsible for assisting in the end-to-end product development process—from initial concept through to final sample—ensuring accurate execution of design intent, product quality, and calendar milestones.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, technically savvy, and highly organized individual with a passion for knitwear, innovation, and luxury product development.
About The Role:
- Product Development Support:
Assist in managing the development of knitwear styles from concept to final approval, ensuring alignment with design vision, quality standards, and seasonal calendars. - Cross-functional Collaboration:
Support ongoing collaboration between Design, Merchandising, Fit Specialist, Sourcing, and Quality Assurance to ensure seamless execution and handoff at each development milestone. - Technical Package Creation and Management:
Create and maintain accurate and detailed Tech Packs and Bill of Materials (BOMs), ensuring all components and specifications are up to date. - Sample Coordination:
Track and manage prototypes and campaign samples, liaise with vendors and cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery and resolution of issues. - Fitting and Approvals:
Participate in fittings alongside the Senior Product Developer and Design; capture fit comments, specifications, and updates required for prototypes - Vendor Communication:
Communicate day-to-day development needs and updates to vendors, supporting clear, timely execution of design intent and product updates. - Material and Yarn Research:
Assist with sourcing and organizing yarn and material submissions; maintain libraries and reference tools as needed. - Calendar Tracking:
Help maintain visibility on development timelines by updating trackers and status reports, identifying and escalating risks to timelines as needed. - Innovation & Efficiency:
Stay informed of industry trends, sustainability practices, and innovative knitwear techniques; support initiatives that streamline prototyping and enhance product quality. - PLM & Data Management:
Maintain up-to-date and accurate information in PLM systems and development tools; ensure data integrity across systems.
About You:
- 1–3 years of experience in product development, with luxury knitwear experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Science, Product Development, or related field
- Strong technical understanding of knitwear (yarns, gauges, knit structures) is preferred
- Familiarity with PLM systems, Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and Microsoft Office suite
- Basic knowledge of costing, garment construction, and global production processes
- Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail and time management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for product, innovation, and the luxury fashion industry
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, balancing multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
