Hybrid Student (m/f/d) - Virtual Road with DWPT bei DENSO

As a global TIER 1 supplier for the automotive industry, DENSO develops, produces and sells powertrain components and systems as well as innovative hardware, software and fuel solutions for electric and hybrid vehicles. DENSO’s two main pillars, “Peace of Mind” and “Green”, are the foundation of new R&D themes. One of One of the main pillars is the Thermal system where DENSO produces refrigerant as well as coolant system components & systems.

An emerging technology is Dynamic Wireless Power Transfer (DWPT) that is able to charge the vehicle while driving. In order to evaluate the effect of the DWPT system on the vehicle usage of the battery a validation toolchain is under development that controls the Chassis Dynamometer. This is called Virtual Road, which allows an actual vehicle to be tested under dynamic driving conditions. This needs to be further developed to emulate the wireless charging.

Purpose:

The objective of the project is to create functionality to use the existing toolchain as effective as possible to emulate the effect of DWPT on vehicle on a Chassis Dynamometer.

Project targets:

Activity #1: Requirement analysis

• Analyze the existing toolchain and Hardware Interfacing.
• Analyze the effect of DWPT on battery usage using Simulation.

Activity #2: Function implementation

• Create functionality to emulate the DWPT effect on vehicle.
• Validate the effect of DWPT by vehicle evaluation on Chassis Dynamometer.

• Currently enrolled in an engineering study with a focus on automotive engineering (Bachelor or master course)
• Experience in Matlab coding (e.g. Vehicle Networking Toolbox)
• Good English skills both written and spoken
• Fundamental knowledge of electric vehicles and their powertrains
• Experience in simulation activities mandatory using MathWorks MATLAB & Simulink (model creation, calibration, validation, and data analytics)
• Good MS-Office visualization skills are required (especially Excel & PowerPoint for result visualization)
• Independent problem solving and own task management
• Creative and open-minded team-player attitude
