The City Income Tax Bureau within the Michigan Department of Treasury is seeking two Quality Assurance Technicians to support our customer service call center. We’re looking for innovative, professional, and positive individuals who are ready to make an impact through quality improvement and outstanding service.

As a Departmental Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining and elevating the quality of our customer interactions. Your work will help ensure that every call reflects the highest standards of service, accuracy, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and evaluate inbound and outbound customer service calls.
  • Score agent interactions using standardized QA rubric.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and trainers to identify trends and training opportunities.
  • Help ensure consistency in service tone, policy adherence, and issue resolution.

Position Duties

Education 

Education typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience 


Departmental Technician 7

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 7-level in state service.

Departmental Technician 8

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 8-level in state service.

OR

One year of experience as a technician or paraprofessional equivalent to the entry level in state service.

Departmental Technician E9

One year of experience as a supervisor of administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

OR

One year of experience performing administrative support activities equivalent to the 9-level in state service.

OR

Two years of experience as a technician or paraprofessional, including one year of experience

equivalent to the intermediate level in state service.

Minimum Qualifications

Departmental Technician 7

Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) may be substituted for the experience requirement. 

 Departmental Technician 8

 

Possession of a bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the experience requirement.

 

Departmental Technician E9

 

Possession of a bachelor’s degree and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).  Go to evaluators for a list of accepted organizations that evaluate foreign credentials.  Failure to provide this evaluation at the time of application may result in you being screened out of the process.

This position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.

Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.

The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.  

Interviews will likely occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience with Teams is necessary, as instructions and tips will be provided to all candidates scheduled for an interview.

This position has a FTINPRINT sub-class code.  The sub-class code indicates the position has access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and requires passing of a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075.
