General Summary
At LAIKA, storytelling is a craft—and so is the technology that supports it. Our Support Engineers are hands-on problem solvers and trusted collaborators who ensure our desktop, mobile, and management systems run as smoothly as our stop motion sets.
In this role, you’ll partner with artists, engineers, and production teams to design, test, and fine-tune the tools that keep our studio humming. Whether it’s rolling out new configurations, standardizing system performance, or exploring better ways to support our creative teams, you’ll play a critical role in shaping a stable, seamless, and inspiring tech environment.
Job Functions
- Build and maintain enterprise systems that manage Linux, Mac, and Windows desktop and mobile devices across the studio.
- Evaluate, test, and deploy new software, tools, and operating system updates.
- Ensure smooth integration of desktop systems with LAIKA’s broader network, storage, and backup infrastructure.
- Assist with integration of workstations into digital and studio pipelines and act as a point of escalation for desktop and hardware issues.
- Connect workstations into CI/CD platforms to streamline development and deployment.
- Gather and analyze system performance data to optimize operations.
- Respond quickly to production issues, solving problems with urgency and care.
Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience in enterprise systems engineering.
- Strong organizational and troubleshooting skills; detail-oriented and resourceful.
- Clear communicator who can work both independently and as part of a tight-knit team.
- Ability to gather and respond effectively to feedback, translating business and creative needs into technical solutions.
- Experience with scripting languages, with emphasis on systems management development.
- Able to establish accountability and ownership across daily tasks, projects, and service improvements.
- Familiarity with agile workflows like Kanban or Scrum, a plus.
- Comfortable working in data center environments or small equipment spaces.
- Calm under pressure—especially when the clock is ticking.
