Job Function
Reporting into the New Product Development Supervisor, the Lab Engineer will be based in Cleveland, Ohio and will be following all Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures while providing support and assistance to the porcelain enamel division of the performance coatings business. Supervise technical efforts on programs of considerable size or complexity. Organize multiple projects from feasibility and conception through to manufacturing scale-up and commercialization. If appropriate, supervise one or more technicians to develop porcelain enamel coatings to customer specifications, provide procedures to manufacturing for production of those coatings, and provide technical support as needed.
Responsibilities
Ensure/assist in compliance to environmental, training, safety, transportation and all other regulations
Supervise, analyze, and plan work to make adjustments needed to existing products to meet new customer requirements including manufacturing and quality control specifications
Oversee work needed to develop new porcelain enamel products to meet customer requirements and also procedures needed to produce those products in manufacturing
Implement and drive continuous improvement activities through implementation of change management process and best practices
Coach and develop resources to meet business’s objectives
Represent Vibrantz externally in professional societies and associations
Perform other duties as assigned
Required Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science or other related fields
5+ years previous general lab experience or equivalent
Ability to travel up to 25%
Preferred Experience
Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration, support, and problem-solving.
