JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.

The Ocean Freight Manager will lead the Country development and operational management for Ocean Freight business plan and strategy. It included import and export business and traffics and developing customized products, best pricing and rates negotiation with carriers, controlling the annual ocean freight expenditures and key strategic support partner with Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, allowing them to structure lowest net landed cost programs for import/export business.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for Operations and customer services of the Ocean freight duties.
  • Responsible of market analysis and statistics for the Country in OF duties.
  • Awareness to key vertical market in order to work closely on strategic development.
  • To be Trade Monitor performance of each service contract.
  • To check profit and loss development of Country in Ocean freight Product.
  • To support in carrier negotiation in local contract.
  • To participate in meetings with M&S for major trade lanes in cooperation with others JAS subsidiaries at regional/global.
  • Identifying potential sales and targets for the ocean trade
  • Work together with the sales team on country customer maintenance and implementation.
  • To be involved in setting up budget guideline for Country Ocean Freight Product
  • To provide support to products operative regarding market situation and rate level.
  • Responsible for the quantity and good performance in billing and job costing in Ocean freight Operations.
  • Work closely with partners overseas country to define necessary products to achieve the targets budgeted.
  • Allocation achievement performance with the carrier’s.
  • To Work in an accordance to the compliance rules and policy.
  • To minimize the risk of having rates without coverage of a Gross Profit scenario by a proper buying rate to cover particular business.
  • To control through different formulas the bunker increase foresee the rate trend in a constant changing market.
  • To be responsible for the operational results in ocean freight, fleet strategy, trades design and administration of all containers services, traffics and network connections.
  • Identification and development of new business opportunities into Country with focus in intralatam business implementing tailored solutions    

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct performance evaluation for direct reports
  • Recommend hiring, firing and promotion
  • Identify and resolve personnel issues
  • Ongoing coaching and mentoring of staff to develop skills to the highest level

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ·Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
  • Detail oriented, able to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in transportation, ocean freight or international business preferred or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of airfreight product or global freight management experience with a large scope focused in Business.
  • Knowledge and experience in Ocean freight Operations duties.
  • Collaborating with domestic and foreign partners/carriers and successfully manage large scale, extended fleet providing lowest net landed cost of goods.
  • Negotiating large, complex freight contracts with international carriers companies and providers.
  • Demonstrated successful P&L experience in managing complex, extended international import/export ocean freight product.
  • In depth knowledge of complex issues impacting the ocean freight industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in project and vendor management and large, Complex Ocean freight contract negotiations.
  • Marketing & Sales capabilities and experience in business developing.
  • Experience in successfully communication with international vendors and partners.
  • Highly motivated leader who is adept at working in a competitive, challenging and fast-paced work environment.
  • English and Portuguese advanced proficiency language (written and speaking).
