Contract Term: 1 Year

Work Hours: Standard business hours. Flexibility to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) is required to support migration activities during non-business hours.

Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled VMware VDI Migration Specialist to lead the migration of large-scale Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments. This role demands deep technical expertise in VMware technologies, strong scripting capabilities, and a proactive approach to incident and change management. The ideal candidate will have experience in customer-facing roles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across global teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute VDI migration projects between data centers (both online and offline).
  • Manage and optimize VMware virtual infrastructure, ensuring minimal downtime and high performance.
  • Utilize vSphere replication mechanisms and backup/restore functions.
  • Automate migration processes and reporting using PowerShell, PowerCLI, and Python.
  • Support end users in an L3 capacity, providing advanced troubleshooting and remote debugging.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage incidents and run triage across multiple technologies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting using Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data collation).
  • Present technical updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10–12 years of experience managing VMware virtual infrastructure, with 8+ years in large-scale migration projects.
  • Strong hands-on experience with VDI and end-user device management (not virtual servers).
  • Deep knowledge of VMware product suites: vSphere, Horizon, vCenter, Hypervisors, Horizon Connection Servers, Omnissa client and agent.
  • Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell, PowerCLI, Python) for automation and reporting.
  • Familiarity with VMware eSXI, Horizon, and Windows OS (server and workstation).
  • Experience with tools such as Systrack, Splunk, Process Monitor, and log analysis utilities.
  • Strong understanding of operational processes in the financial industry.
  • Knowledge of incident and change management processes in large-scale organizations.

Must-Have Competencies

  • Project management process knowledge.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles with strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage incidents involving multiple technologies (virtualization, OS, collaboration tools, mobility, etc.).
  • Self-starter with a proactive, persistent, and positive approach.

Soft Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment when analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Comfortable working with global teams and stakeholders.
