Job Title: GED Services and Testing Coordinator
Location: Washington, DC – Ward 5 or Ward 8 Campus
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, Shift Options; 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., or 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Position requires two "late shifts" a week), Fridays - Remote (Mondays Remote following Probationary Period)
Position Type: Full-Time, Benefit-Eligible
Salary Range: $50,822. 80 - $71,164.19

Position Overview:
The GED Services and Testing Specialist will work closely with the GED Services and Testing Coordinator, Academic instructors, Student Support staff, NEDP staff, Career/Workforce/College staff, Principals, and the Development and Volunteer Associate to coordinate GED services and testing for learners at Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School’s programs. This person will utilize data such as test results to coordinate services for individual learners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Management
- Follows policies and procedures for identifying test readiness
- Follows processes and systems for effective test implementation
- Maintains an inventory of GED Ready and GED exam testing vouchers
- Maintains accurate records and completes regular data quality checks
- Works in collaboration with GED Services and Testing Coordinator to meet PMF targets
- Monitors and utilizes data in GED Manager to prepare weekly reports
- Ensures all score reports, transcripts and diplomas are archived
Comprehensive Coaching and Supportive Services
- Communicates the GED testing process with students
- Coordinates Q&A sessions with ABE 4 (pre-GED) students
- Facilitates 1 on 1 coaching sessions to discuss HS pathway options with ABE 5 & 6 level students
- Develops an individualized testing plan with each GED Gladiator and performs regular coach check-ins
- Works closely with Principals and classroom teachers to ensure students have an academic and study plan
- Meets regularly with academic teachers and Student Support Specialists to discuss student test readiness, testing recommendations, any barriers to success, and wraparound services and support for testing students
- Connects students to various internal and external resources including tutors, books, materials, etc.
- Works in collaboration with College and Career Services to identify post-secondary goals and plans
- Contacts stopped out learners to encourage/support their return and completion
- Coordinates evidence-based strategies to build students cohorts to improve retention (i.e. workshops, field trips)
Coordinating Assessments and Appointments
- Assists students with creating MyGED Accounts
- Administers assessments including; GED test and calculator tutorials, Northstar computer test and the GED Ready practice tests to help determine test readiness and prepare students for official testing
- Utilize GED Score Report in collaboration with classroom teachers and tutors to develop a study plan
- Ensures students are compliant in terms of their identification and residency with the GED Program Office
- Works proactively with Student Support Services to secure testing accommodations for identified learners
- Schedules all Official GED Exam appointments
- Enters data into the student information system
- Tracks usage of testing vouchers
- Completes graduate and exit memos upon program completion
- Orders initial GED Diploma and transcripts on behalf of our graduates
Compensation:
Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Full benefits package including health insurance, retirement contributions, and professional development.
Work Hours:
Monday through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Fridays are off.
Background Check Required.
All offers of employment are contingent upon a federal criminal background clearance and verification of education.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of Adult Basic Education and GED testing process
- Exhibited leadership in working with professional staff, students and the community to achieve goals.
- Agreement with and commitment to the academic goals and philosophy of Academy of Hope Adult Public Charter School
- Written and oral communication skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with school staff, the public, and representatives of other agencies
- Excellent time management, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, and internet navigation proficiency
OTHER NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, students, and the general public.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
