Inside the Role

The Safety Product Marketing Specialist plays a lead role in developing/executing product go-to-market strategies, as well as developing communications, key messages, dealer and internal sales materials, training content and promotional programs for the Detroit Assurance product lineup and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.
The ideal candidate embraces collaboration across the organization and understands that DTNA’s success is tied to our customer and dealer success. Successful execution of the role will require a candidate that is passionate about delivering excellent results, celebrates success and learns from failure. The candidate should be able to see the big picture, set and accomplish short- and long-term goals, establish priorities, and objectively evaluate outcomes. This candidate helps teams drive decisions with an analytical and collaborative framework.

Position offers a starting salary range of $95,000.00 - $121,000.00 USD 

Pay offered dependent on knowledge, skills, and experience​

What You Drive at DTNA 

  • Support the development and lead the execution of go-to-market strategies for Detroit Assurance products and new ADAS feature introductions; collaborate with Product Strategy and Segment Strategy teams to determine appropriate product go-to-market timing.
  • Develop sales support collateral (i.e. pitch decks, walkaround videos, sell sheets, white-papers, driver training, spec packages, etc.) for dealers and DTNA internal sales stakeholders.
  • Support development of product-specific messaging and ensure appropriate product positioning/messaging for Detroit Assurance and Advanced Driver Assistant Systems (ADAS) in brand marketing communications, DTNA Corporate Communications, truck product marketing sales collateral and training materials.
  • Ensure accurate representation of Detroit Assurance and ADAS features in SpecPro, i.e., appropriate data code descriptions and links to relevant product feature details, and images.
  • Drive collaboration with On Highway and Vocational Training teams to determine appropriate strategies (webinars, online training modules, in person events, etc.) for educating dealer and internal sales stakeholders on ADAS features.
  • Collaborate with On Highway and Vocational Segment Strategy and Product Marketing teams to develop strategic initiatives to grow acceptance of ADAS in target segments.
  • Coordinate with Compliance teams to ensure marketing materials are accurately aligned with corporate standards.
  • Collaborate with Digital Marketing and Brand Marketing teams and ensure appropriate products/features are promoted in Detroit, Freightliner and Western Star brand web sites and through brand social media channels.
  • Play lead role in developing strategy to capture and communicate competitor data/insights; collaborate with Segment Strategy and Product Strategy teams as needed to understand market and competitor insights and develop content to help stakeholders sell against the competition.
  • Support marketing truck and trade show strategy development to ensure appropriate spec’ing of ADAS features; represent DTNA at trade shows and other industry events.
  • Collaborate with truck product marketing and Detroit Field Sales Engineering teams to determine how to best demonstrate ADAS in DTNA truck products at industry events, dealer training events and customer ride and drives.
  • Act as main point of contact and subject matter expert for internal (Detroit Field Sales Engineers and new truck sales teams, etc.) as well as external stakeholders (dealers, customers) for current, released ADAS product information; routinely engage with Detroit Field Sales Engineering team to ensure they are educated on ADAS features.
  • Develop technical product presentations and present, including product “walkarounds”, to key stakeholders.
  • Support team members by cross-training on Powertrain, Regulatory and Safety features to provide coverage when needed.

Knowledge You Should Bring 

  • BS/BA and prefer 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Build internal cross-functional network – product marketing, brand/marketing communications, product strategy, segment strategy, sales, CAE, service, controlling, regulatory compliance, etc.
  • Quickly learn and communicate technical details of ADAS products
  • Possess strong project management skills
  • Identify trends and opportunities through analysis of complex datasets
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and have a big-picture view of DTNA’s business and the market
  • Possess excellent presentation, public speaking, and written communication skills
  • Be customer (internal and external stakeholders) focused
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Be flexible, with a willingness to pivot depending on market or DTNA needs or external events
  • Working knowledge and proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Be self-driven, work proactively and possess a can-do attitude
  • Travel required approximately 15-20% of the time
  • An attached resume is required

Exceptional Candidates Might Have 

  • Detroit powertrain and safety system product knowledge
  • Freightliner and/or Western Star truck product knowledge
  • Commercial driver license or the ability to obtain one
  • Previous experience with on-highway or vocational products, dealers and customers
