About The Role
The Vice President, Sales Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategy, optimizing sales tactics and processes, and supporting the effective distribution of our retirement and wealth services and solutions. This role functions as the chief of staff to the EVP, Head of Retirement and Wealth Distribution, playing a central role in developing and executing high-impact sales strategies, supporting territory management for advisors, and leading a team of sales operations professionals. This role will be instrumental in ensuring that Corebridge Financial remains at the forefront of the industry, delivering superior service and results.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Vision:
- Serve as a key strategic partner to the distribution head and the RVPs, assisting in the formulation and implementation of initiatives that increase organic growth and expand market share, aligning with the long-term business objectives and growth targets of Corebridge Retirement Services.
- Conduct comprehensive and insightful analysis of market trends, competitors, and customer behaviors to inform and refine sales strategies and establish a competitive advantage in the retirement services sector.
- Design and manage the rollout of innovative business-building initiatives for financial advisors, empowering them with actionable strategies that elevate client engagement, accelerate growth, and advance market leadership.
Operational Excellence and Territory Management:
- Establish a standing business review framework on behalf of the distribution head with the RVP team to assess results, establish accountability and drive performance. This includes working with Finance and the metrics team to develop a comprehensive set of metrics and KPIs to monitor and track regional performance and foster and environment of growth and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the deployment and adoption of impactful and value-added sales tools, training programs, and performance metrics that enable the sales force to achieve outsized business results.
- Develop and maintain robust policies, procedures, and best practices that drive operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement across the sales organization.
- Collaborate with internal sales teams to ensure cohesive strategy execution, product alignment, and consistent revenue growth.
Executive Leadership and Team Development:
- Motivate and lead a high-performing team of sales operations professionals, cultivating a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear, measurable goals for the team, and provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities to foster professional growth and success.
- Recognize and cultivate emerging leaders and top performers by providing tailored coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities that strengthens talent pipeline and drives long-term organizational success.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and ensure alignment between the sales operations team and other departments, driving cohesive execution of company-wide initiatives.
Chief of Staff Functions:
- Function as a strategic partner to the distribution head, acting as a force multiplier in strategic and business planning, communication, and execution.
- Lead and coordinate high-priority projects and initiatives, ensuring they align with business priorities and are fully executed on time.
- Facilitate seamless collaboration and communication between the distribution head and other senior leaders, maintaining alignment and strategic focus across the organization.
- Support the distribution head in analyzing, designing, and rolling out performance-based compensation plans grounded in a deep analysis of industry trends and competitive intelligence with a focus on rewarding top performers and achieving the major business priorities of Retirement Services.
- Support the recruitment of experienced financial advisors by developing an impactful recruiting process and “storyline” to effectively identify quality recruits and to communicate the Firm’s value proposition and competitive advantages.
Financial Stewardship and Performance Management:
- Monitor, analyze, and report on financial performance, identifying opportunities for cost optimization, revenue enhancement, and overall profitability improvement.
- Spearhead the development and management of the sales operations budget, aligning financial resources with strategic objectives and ensuring fiscal responsibility.
- Collaborate with finance and the analytics team to forecast sales performance, support strategic planning, and ensure accurate financial projections.
- Leverage competitive intelligence to anticipate industry trends, providing innovative strategic recommendations that are ahead of the curve.
Cross-Functional and External Collaboration:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across marketing, product development, finance, and other departments to drive cohesive and effective sales initiatives.
- Represent the sales distribution function in senior leadership meetings, strategy sessions, and external engagements, acting as a key voice for the sales organization.
- Lead efforts to integrate cross-functional feedback and competitive insights into the sales strategy, ensuring that Corebridge Financial's offerings remain relevant, competitive, and customer-centric.
- Develop and rollout processes to support financial advisors in focused coaching, effective communication, and business practice improvements—supporting the adoption of strategies aligned with evolving industry trends, regulations, and client needs.
Required Qualifications
Experience and Education:
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in sales operations, with a significant portion in a sales leadership role within the retirement or wealth management industries.
- A minimum of 5-years of Field Management leadership experience overseeing teams that supported advisors in developing business plans and adopting best practices to enhance client acquisition, client retention and client wallet share expansion.
- Direct experience in developing sales tactics and business strategies for financial advisors that drove organic growth.
- Hands-on experience in developing and implementing field management and advisor compensation plans.
- Bachelor’s degree; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- State Life and Health Insurance license or ability to obtain within 60 days
- FINRA Series 7, 66, 24 or ability to obtain within 120 days.
- CFP® and CRPS® preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Seasoned expertise in the financial planning process with experience in both a client facing and back/middle office capacity to identify optimal positioning of Corebridge’s product suite in the field.
- Deep subject matter expertise in the full menu of investment and insurance products, as well as advisory solutions and pricing.
- Advanced proficiency in sales tools, CRM systems, and performance metrics, with a deep understanding of how to leverage technology to drive sales success.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, with a proven ability to translate complex data into actionable business strategies.
- Expert at creating presentations and other relevant documents communicating the status and success of the department for multiple stakeholders.
- Strong financial acumen, with experience in managing large budgets, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
- Executive presence and team leadership skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams and driving organizational success.
- Comprehension of the current competitive landscape in client markets (e.g., qualified retirement plans, insurance, annuities, and advisory business).
- A dynamic and adaptable leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive results under pressure.
- Superior communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organization, including C-suite executives.
