Summary:The Computer Aided Design (CAD) Engineer provides enablement to a team of circuit design and layout engineers through the development of EDA tool automation routines, custom PDK elements, and best-practice methodologies. This position serves as the primary interface between end-users and EDA tool vendors.
The PDK/CAD Engineer will gain experience in radiation-hardened design, layout, and the corresponding CAD requirements to ensure the highest reliability in the devices we develop. This individual will be responsible for ensuring all Engineering tools function as require and establish / implement flows to industry leading standards. Intergrated circuit design experience a must for this role!
This position will be directly involved in the development of new products that support space missions developed for harsh environments on and beyond Earth. This position supports all of Frontgrade Engineering.
Responsibilities:- Develops custom PDK elements including p-cells, SKILL routines, and physical verification decks
- Creates, deploys, maintains, and continuously improves automation flows for IC design, layout, process migration, self-checking simulation, and physical verification by way of scripting and/or programming
- Evaluates vendor tool capabilities and recommends tool mix adjustments to management
- Develops EDA tool and design flow best-practice methodologies, documents these practices and policies, instructs peers in following the practices, and gathers feedback from end-users to identify areas for further improvement
- EDA tool installation, license management, configuration management, and data management
- Ability to comprehend IC schematics and layouts
- Electrical Engineering (Bachelor's degree) or Related Field of Study (Bachelor's degree)
- Minimum eight (8) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline. OR (12) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree. OR (6) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Masters Degree.
- Experience in integrated circuit design and/or physical layout
- Exposure to and aptitude to learn Unix platforms, command-shells, and utilities
- Exposure to and aptitude to learn modern EDA Tools (e.g. Synopsys, Siemens, Cadence, Ansys)
- Experience developing custom SKILL routines, p-cells, symbols, and callbacks in Cadence SKILL routines
- Familiarity with version control methodologies and corresponding software (ClioSoft, SVN, RCS, etc.)
- Programming in Python, TCL, PERL, and/or other scripting languages
- This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by either ITAR or EAR U.S. export laws. As a condition to this job offer, in order to be employed in this position, you must be able to obtain an U.S. Government export license(s), as required by law.
- Pay Range: $125,000 - $159,000 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
