Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Toronto, we have grown to be one of Toronto’s leading catering/event Production Companies. We count some of Toronto’s major professional firms and organizations as our loyal long-term clients. Numerous venues, charitable organizations and sporting events are catered by Marigolds and Onions. In order to facilitate future growth our company is seeking to hire a sales manager who will be responsible for supervising and organizing our sales team.
Job Summary
An account manager serves as the key contact point for customers who are organizing events with Marigolds and Onions. Account managers will service any and all needs of their clients and venues from issuing quotes, submitting orders, booking staff, rental, décor and arrange for any other services required by the client to ensure a successful event.
Organizational Status
· Account managers work as part of the sales team, accountable to the sales manager.
· Event support works with the account managers to convert quotes into sales orders and issue menus to the kitchen.
· Account managers can request specialty finishing for packaging as well as event signage through requests to reception. Reception will also book staff through various staffing agencies at the request of the account manager.
· Account managers will be the exclusive contact for customers who are having an event with M&O. They may also be the exclusive contact for a venue at which we are preferred caterers.
· Account managers will be the contact for 3rd party companies providing event services.
Work Performed
· Initial sales calls to contact and develop new clients.
· Respond to incoming inquiries from customers by creating attractive and comprehensive menus and quotes that will result in a prospective client to confirm their event.
· Communicate with clients and chefs to develop menus that will satisfy all types of events and attend to any and all specific dietary requirements.
· Submitting quotes in Bluelink. Forward to event support after confirmation for processing into an order.
· Work with the Microsoft Office suite of programs and our custom database software in order to create quotes, and place orders.
· Communicate the needs of your clients to all parties involved in the execution of their event: staffing agencies, suppliers, operations and chefs.
· Be able to lead or direct an onsite team to execute all aspects of an event.
· Account managers are to provide on-site or remote supervision or direction to staff on their events.
Responsibilities for Quality of Work
· The account manager is the key individual in the success of an event. Any work done by other individuals for the account manager, conversion by event support or staff booking by reception, is done as instructed by the account manager.
· Choice of menu, staffing, rentals and other third party services are left to the account manager to make as they see fit to meet the client’s & venue’s needs. The account manager will ensure that all aspects of the event are attended to in a timely manner such that on Fridays at 10am their menus are submitted for the production meeting.
Qualifications
Education/Work Experience
· 2-3 years of experience working in the catering/event management field with a recognized professional company.
Skills
· Be an effective communicator both internally and externally.
· Be proficient with computers in order to accurately and quickly create proposals and orders.
· Be highly organized.
· Be intuitive to be able to understand client’s needs and best respond to them.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Pay: From $50,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

Experience:
- Catering Sales: 2 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Class G Licence (preferred)
- Smart Serve Certification (preferred)
- Food Handlers (preferred)
Work Location: Hybrid remote in York, ON (it is in office but position will have to travel for events)
