What's the role

The Head of Product Engineering is responsible for establishing the technical competencies, technology, and infrastructure needed to deliver our product strategy and merchant finance propositions. Ensure that our product engineering function is optimised with productivity, quality, and scale in mind..

The role will cultivate a deep understanding of our business needs including our customers with the goal of enabling the customer to maximise value from their Groov investment. The role will oversee and lead the conception, technical design, execution, product delivery and launch of our product stack. Manages communication and coordination among different types of engineers, designers and analysts working across our product engineering and delivery function. Supervises project schedule, budget, and communications with stakeholders. You will also be supporting the adoption and integration of Groov with the customer, stakeholder alignment, and risk mitigation by working in unison with sales executives, CSM executives and product experts, and other supporting team members within Groov and its partners.

The Head of Product Engineering must be comfortable talking Groov solutions and product integration with enterprise customer team members across the spectrum from Enterprise Architects and Engineering Leads to Chief Technology Officers (CTO)

What you'll be doing

• Build strong customer relationships with solution architecture, product and solution engineering/delivery teams across our customer and partner base.
• Works across Groov to understand the business, engineering and operational concerns that impact the way our product is built and develop a strategy to improve engineering and product infrastructure.
• Act as custodian of common product infrastructure and architecture.
• Own, maintain, and drive the adoption of standards, patterns, and processes to ensure our approach is centred on customer value.
• Perform technical exploration, experimentation and evaluation around our current technology choices to deliver guidance and technology consolidation.
• Track Groov’s technology relative to the pace of global growth/development and brings insight and innovation.
• Owner of Groov’s policies for software development.
• Accountable for overall delivery of Groov’s embedded insights and capital product lines.
• Maintain regular and appropriate communication and governance with both internal and external executive teams to ensure alignment and transparency.
• Working with sales, customer relationship and product management teams to understand customer requests and customer feedback and effectively map into product requirements.
• Be a product and an engineering champion and own the Product Delivery Roadmap and enhancements.
• Build relationships with strategic partners and technology partners.

What you'll bring

• Passionate about all aspects of product engineering, evolving data/integration technologies and strategy with deep knowledge in software engineering and cloud technology infrastructure.
• Extensive experience in a SaaS business, or within the FinTech sector, specifically in the roles of Product Architecture, Solution Delivery & Engineering.
• Proven record of successfully managing long-term relationships with accounts at all organisational levels (C level, IT, Operational).
• Proven ability to work across geographic and cultural boundaries, to work with complex customers, involving multiple stakeholders and potential partners/affiliates involved in the ecosystem.
• Understand the dynamics of a start-up working environment and can work collaboratively with a distributed engineering team in an autonomous way and with a rapid problem-solving mindset.
• Poise under pressure thrives in a multi-tasking environment and can adjust priorities on the fly.
• You are an excellent communicator in English (written & verbal).
