About The Center For Inclusive Innovation

The Center for Inclusive Innovation is hiring an Research and Development (R&D) Project Manager to manage R&D projects and initiatives. The Center for Inclusive Innovation supports school districts to co-create equitable powerful learning opportunities with and for historically and systematically excluded learners. We do this by engaging educators, families, students, community members, researchers, and social entrepreneurs in community-centered R&D projects using our Inclusive Innovation model to co-create equitable opportunities for individuals to successfully lead, participate in, and benefit from innovations that address the needs of students and families. The Center works in collaboration with communities and districts in Digital Promise’s League of Innovative Schools and beyond to employ an Inclusive Innovation R&D model to design, champion, and scale new models for education innovation.

About The Position

This R&D Project Manager will work on the R&D Projects Team within the Center for Inclusive Innovation to manage education R&D projects working in collaboration with the Center team in support of schools, communities, and entrepreneurs in collaborations to develop, test and implement solutions to identified challenges. The R&D Project Manager will support the recruitment, selection, and on-boarding of districts and community partners and be responsible for facilitating the implementation of the Inclusive Innovation process with an internal research partner to guide the district-community partners through community-centered R&D. The ideal candidate is highly organized with a passion for working with a diverse stakeholder group, committed to guiding community-centered initiatives and is willing to be flexible to meet the needs of the project.

Responsibilities

The R&D Program Manager will participate as a member of the R&D Project Team, collaborating on multiple projects and Inclusive Innovation initiatives. The position will be chiefly responsible for project management to ensure the projects are designed and executed to meet the goals identified by the stakeholders and our funder commitments. The R&D Project Manager will also support resource development, implementation, and knowledge management in the areas of district and community engagement.

Project Design, Management, and Implementation

  • Work in collaboration with Center for Inclusive Innovations team members, school districts, and partners to create and execute a project plan to include the recruitment, selection, on-boarding and management of the inclusive innovation projects from launch to completion
  • Work in collaboration with CII team members and Digital Promise staff across the organization in the design and implementation of the Inclusive Innovation R&D process to include the design and facilitation of community-centered R&D sessions based on Inclusive Innovation protocols (e.g. creating assets and agendas for sessions, revising and structuring activity protocols and curating resources).   • Work in collaboration with other R&D Project Managers and R&D Project Directors in the Center to develop and manage projects that center educators, families, and students
  • Create high-quality presentations using PowerPoint to communicate project status, findings, data and recommendations in easy-to-understand visualizations and summaries
  • Support the project team in working with external partners (e.g. subject matter experts, social entrepreneurs) to design and develop the solution(s) defined by the district-community partners
  • Travel to school districts and education conferences for in-person hosting of Inclusive Innovation workshops and showcase opportunities, when necessary and appropriate


Resource Development and Knowledge Management:

  • Support development of resources for projects (e.g. virtual learning modules, landscape scans, data-driven insights, etc.)
  • Manage knowledge infrastructure of district-community teams virtual engagements (e.g. shared drive folders, Slack channels, and other platforms)
  • Support the Center team in learning capture for each project
  • Provide as-needed support for data collection, tracking, and analysis; creation and dissemination of external communications; and external reporting on projects (e.g. grant budgets and reports)


Project Management

  • Collaborate with Center team members to manage internal workflows and monitor overall project progress, including deliverables, milestones, and activities across projects; help manage internal communications within each project
  • Help coordinate and schedule internal and external meetings


Qualifications

  • 3-7 years experience developing or implementing projects from concept to launch in school and district settings or for education-focused organizations
  • Significant experience with program management, developing and implementing programs, synthesizing data and insights, and working across internal and external stakeholders and knowledge of project management best practices with attention to detail
  • Experience working with diverse groups of stakeholders and/or community organizations
  • Experience working in communities, schools, and organizations supporting historically and systematically excluded students; understanding of education landscape and related systemic inequities
  • Preferred experience with design-thinking, liberatory design, human-centered design or other iterative and collaborative approaches
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage competing tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions
  • Comfort working in a virtual team environment and knowledge of best practices for virtual-first collaboration and knowledge management
  • Open to travel to support the work of school districts and communities and to support the Center’s annual conference
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience communicating in writing via Word and PowerPoint formats with a variety of external stakeholders and organizational leaders
  • A passion for lifelong learning, a team mentality, creativity, and a willingness to problem solve in the spirit of collaboration

Working Conditions

Digital Promise Global is a hybrid organization. Employees are expected to travel at least 4 times a year for in person meetings and the annual staff retreat. Additional travel may be required based on role and responsibilities.

  • Physical/Sensory Demands Fast-paced working environment. Extensive computer usage and online engagement & communication. Must be willing to build inclusive relationships and collaborate with employees at all levels within the organization and external partners.
  • Special Provisions: Occasional work outside of normal business hours, such as weekends and evenings required.


Compensation

We consider candidate experience and location when determining where a candidate may fall within that range. Digital Promise Global offers a competitive total rewards package including coverage of 85% of health insurance premiums for employee coverage and 75% of health insurance premiums for dependent and family coverage, 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, 3% 401k employer contribution, 3% employer 401k match, and a flexible work environment.

The full-time salary range for the Research and Development (R&D) Project Manager position based on geographical regions are listed below, with exact salary depending on relevant experience.

California: $100,980 - $109,890

DC Metro Area & NYC: $91,800 - $99,900

National: $82,620 - $89,910
