- Syensqo has decided to create a startup team, Syensqo.ai, dedicated to the AI and Generative AI domain. By taking this role, the Lead Software Engineer will join this team right at its inception. Its mantra is simple: deliver value in a fast fashion, with speed, and agility while taking no compromise on compliance, ethics, guardrails, or regulations.
- The Lead Software Engineer will contribute to the growth and development of this startup while keeping a very sharp focus on the delivery of prioritized items. In the current business, macroeconomic, and climate crisis context, time of execution will be of the essence.
- With a focus on innovation to achieve growth, we are seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join our team and lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge AI solutions. In our agile and collaborative work environment we have fun to live our motto: advancing humanity.
- You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future technology landscape to develop our product portfolio and be responsible for leading the corporate AI & Gen AI Development Platform and Implementation across the company.
- Work closely with various stakeholders, including product managers, architects, and business leaders, to ensure that our AI solutions are robust, scalable, and aligned with our business objectives.
- Your expertise will drive the adoption of best practices in AI development and deployment, fostering innovation and excellence.
- Lead Corporate AI Platform Development and Implementation
- Design and implement core functionalities of the AI platform to support the complete lifecycle of AI and Generative AI solution development (MLOps, LLMOps, etc.)
- Take full ownership of the AI platform, including maintenance, debugging, enhancement of existing features, and development of new capabilities.
- Continuously monitor advancements in AI technology to integrate state-of-the-art features into the platform.
- Responsible for AI Solutions
- Architect, develop and deploy scalable AI solutions using modern design principles.
- Integrates AI solutions within enterprise solutions such as Salesforce and SAP, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality alignment
- Build both batch and real-time model prediction pipelines with existing application and front-end integrations.
- Implement robust deployment processes including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) and DevOps practices.
- Maintain and improve quality standards for all AI solutions and develop scalable automated testing strategies to ensure reducing Time-to-market and meeting business requirements and industry best practices.
- Responsible for Delivery
- Coordinate multiple work streams within the project to ensure efficient progress.
- Oversee the execution of projects, guaranteeing adherence to timelines and delivery commitments.
- Leadership
- Responsible for defining and evolving the methodology and best practices for AI solution development and deployment within the organization.
- Supervise the delivery of AI projects, ensuring that they adhere to established standards and practices for quality and performance.
- Facilitate the ongoing education and training of team members to keep pace with evolving AI technologies and methodologies.
- Drive the adoption of new tools and techniques that enhance the productivity and capabilities of the AI team.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest developments in AI and generative AI, exploring new tools, technologies, and methodologies that can drive innovation within the company.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs, present AI solutions, and advocate for the strategic use of AI.

Education & Technical Expertise
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Formal training or certification in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related fields is a plus.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing AI platforms, with a deep understanding of MLOps, LLMOps, and generative AI technologies.
- Competence in architecting scalable and robust AI solutions following modern design principles.
- Expertise in Python or Java with and the ability to write performant production-quality code, familiarity with SQL, knowledge of Spark and cloud data environments (e.g. Azure, Databricks)
- Experience building and scaling machine learning models in business applications using large amounts of data
- Familiarity with AI development platforms, frameworks and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-Learn, LangChain, Hugging Face, …
- Knowledge and practical experience with large language models (LLMs), vector databases, and techniques such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
- Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and cloud services (Azure preferred) related to AI solution deployment.
- Experience in containerization and infrastructure as code using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- Ability to construct batch and streaming microservices exposed as gRPC and/or GraphQL endpoints.
- Experience with Salesforce and SAP is a plus
- Strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

- The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $145,000 to $181,000 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
