Job title: Vice President Engineering

Reporting to: Chief Product Officer

Location: Hybrid/Remote in Europe and UK/I (preference Berlin, Germany, Spain, UK)

Contract: Full-time & permanent

As the most senior technologist, reporting directly to the Chief Product Officer, the Vice President of Engineering will play a critical role in shaping our engineering vision and strategy. Leading a diverse organization that includes four product development teams, a platform & Infrastructure team, client solutions, and internal IT support, the VP of Engineering will ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions that meet our customers' needs. This role is pivotal in fostering innovation, operational excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement in a matrix Product organization working closely with Data, Sales, and Customer Success departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership and Planning: Define and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with the company's goals, driving technological innovation and operational excellence. As a member of the senior leadership team, contribute to shaping the company's strategic direction, ensuring that engineering initiatives support overarching business objectives.
  • Team Management and Development: Lead and inspire a 45 people strong, distributed engineering organization, including direct oversight of engineering managers and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Focus on building engagement, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture.
  • Product Development: Oversee the development, maintenance, and customization of our SaaS product, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and with high quality. Lead initiatives to incorporate advanced ML and AI features and integrations.
  • Technical Excellence: Ensure the architecture, infrastructure, and software development practices support scalability, reliability, and security. Champion the adoption of best practices and continuous learning within the tech stack and beyond.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with the CPO, SVP of Data and Insights and Director of Product to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment on product development and customer satisfaction.
  • Operational Efficiency: Drive improvements in processes and methodologies, including agile practices and project management to enhance team productivity and product quality.
  • Budget and Financial Oversight: Manage the budget and P&L for the software development department and IT support team, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively balancing cost, quality, and time-to-market.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience in engineering within a SaaS environment, ideally as a VP of Engineering or similar senior role.
  • Experience managing (50+) a distributed, remote-first engineering team and fostering a positive, inclusive work environment.
  • Extensive technical expertise with a background in software development and a solid understanding of microservices, micro-frontends, and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with experience working in a matrix organization.
  • Experience with architecture (Microservices, micro frontends, event driven systems) and familiarity with the tech stack (typescript, NestJS, ReactJS, Kafka, React Native, AWS) and agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
