As a Data (Platform) Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our organization's data-driven initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data scientists, data engineers, and stakeholders from various domains, to understand their data requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient data platform solutions. Your expertise in data engineering, cloud technologies, and software development will be essential in driving innovation and enabling efficient data processing and analytics at scale.

As a Data (Platform) Engineer, you will be in charge of:

• Building a data platform as part of the Data Mesh paradigm, a key component of Prima's data strategy.
• Developing reusable technology and solutions that enable teams to ingest, store, transform, and serve their own data products.
• Managing and optimising cloud-based data infrastructure utilising Infrastructure-as-Code principles. Implementing monitoring, alerting, and automation solutions to ensure the reliability and performance of the data platform.
• Implementing data security best practices and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Implementing access controls, encryption, and other security measures to protect sensitive data.
• Embracing continuous learning and experimentation to stay updated on emerging technologies, from testing open-source tools to engaging in community-building activities like Meetups. Your passion for staying at the forefront of the field will drive your journey.

Requirements

• Strong programming skills in Python (Scala is a plus). Proficient in software engineering best practices.
• Expert in batch, distributed data processing, and near real-time streaming data pipelines with technologies like Kafka, Flink, Spark, etc. Experience in Databricks is a plus.
• Experience in Data Lake / Big Data Analytics platform implementation with cloud-based solution; AWS preferred.
• Proficiency in implementing and maintaining data pipeline orchestration solutions like Argo Workflows, Apache Airflow, or others.
• Expertise with RDBMS, Data Warehousing, Data Modelling with relational SQL (Redshift, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in DevOps, CI/CD pipeline management, and expertise in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) deployment industry-best practices.

Nice to have

• Experience in integrating data quality tooling and technologies seamlessly into the self-serve platform, enabling automated data profiling, anomaly detection, and validation checks. Familiarity with frameworks like Great Expectations, Soda, or others is a plus.
• Implementing Data Governance practices, including tool selection, configuration, and deployment for metadata management, data lineage, cataloging, and policy enforcement. Familiarity with frameworks like Atlan, Collibra, or others is a plus.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration, enabling efficient deployment and scaling of data platform components in a containerized environment.
• Experience managing and optimising AWS Redshift.
• Experience working with data transformation frameworks like dbt, sqlmesh, or others.
