Job Overview

As a DXC Cloud Operations Engineer, you will focus on operating and maintaining cloud environments for our customers, ensuring agile and secure managed services. Your main goals will be to increase automation and security, ensure high service availability, and achieve high customer satisfaction. You will work within a small, multi-skilled team to deliver proactive and reactive operational support for DXC-managed cloud environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support 24x7 operations of production cloud environments, including monitoring, incident response, answering service requests, and executing changes
  • Take full ownership of actions and issues, driving them to resolution
  • Collaborate within a multi-skilled Cloud Operations team and consult with team members to achieve success
  • Proactively improve services by automating repeatable tasks, enhancing monitoring metrics, and fixing incident root causes through code fixes or design changes
  • Execute service requests logged by customers within the scope of services
  • Utilize automation tools and Infrastructure as Code tools to maintain the environment and execute changes while adhering to the change management process
  • Understand and contribute to team processes and tools
  • Identify areas with quality deficits or automation opportunities and work to improve them
  • Contribute relevant automation and operation improvements back to development teams

Skills And Qualifications

  • Trained, experienced, and certified in cloud platforms: Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Expertise in one or more technical domains: Windows, Linux, Database, Storage, Networks, Scripting, Security
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new frameworks/technologies and integrate with them for automation service delivery
  • Ability to find effective workarounds to product limitations/constraints
  • Strong team player with a drive for ownership and success
  • Previous experience in infrastructure or software automation delivery
  • DevOps & Agile methodology experience is a plus

Operational Tools And Technologies

  • Cloud systems configuration management tools: Azure Resource Manager templates, AWS CloudFormation, Terraform
  • Strong Unix/Linux scripting skills: bash, ksh, Python
  • Strong Windows batch and PowerShell scripting
  • Experience with JavaScript, Python, VBScript, Ruby, JSON, YAML
  • Web Services & API integrations using REST, SOAP, Perl, PHP, HTML, XML, XSLT
  • Continuous configuration automation/orchestration tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Git/Github, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Software Defined Networking
  • Automation, monitoring, and management tools: Azure OMS, AWS SSM, AWS CloudWatch, Monasca
  • Jira Agile Project management tools and Confluence Wiki documentation
