Description
The Department of Education at Elmhurst University invites applications for student teaching supervisors for secondary student teachers getting licensed in World Languages (Spanish). This is a PreK-12 licensure program.
Position Status: Temporary
Salary Range: The pay is $100/visit.
Work Location: Placements are within a 25-mile radius of Elmhurst University.
Responsibilities
Supervisors must observe their assigned student teachers six times over the semester. Supervisors collaborate with the cooperating teacher to provide mentoring and support to the student teacher and mediate the best resolution to problems if they arise.
Supervisors also attend required professional development and program planning sessions offered through the Department of Education and complete all required online training for Elmhurst University employees.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of five years' teaching and/or administrative experience.
- Must have been a licensed teacher and/or administrator.
- Experience teaching World Language (Spanish), preferably at the middle school or high school levels.
- Master’s degree or higher in Education.
- Demonstrated supervisory knowledge related to World Language pedagogy.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work positively with students, teachers, and administrative leadership.
- Flexible daytime hours.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
The essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
