DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is looking to hire a Welding Technician to work from our Port of Alexandria Facility in our Welding Department.
The Welding Technician supports the welding and fabrication operations within the DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations manufacturing facility by assisting welders, preparing materials, maintaining work areas, and helping ensure projects move efficiently through production. This role plays an important part in supporting quality, safety, and productivity standards while gaining hands-on experience within a true welding department and environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist welders with daily fabrication and production activities
Gather, stage, and organize materials needed for production
Prepare materials for welding, including grinding, cleaning, fitting, and measuring
Operate basic hand tools and shop equipment safely
Assist with movement of materials and components throughout the facility
Maintain clean and organized work areas
Support welding teams with setup and teardown activities
Help ensure materials and tools are available to avoid production delays
Read and follow basic drawings, measurements, and work instructions
Perform quality checks on materials and completed work as directed
Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
Assist other departments as needed to support production flow
Maintain positive communication and teamwork across the facility
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous manufacturing, construction, fabrication, or shop experience preferred
Basic knowledge of hand and power tools preferred
Willingness to learn welding and fabrication processes
Ability to read a tape measure accurately
Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong work ethic and attendance record
Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed
