The Logistics Innovation Project Specialist plays a central role in Samsung SDS America’s SL Consulting Group, supporting the full lifecycle of logistics business — from pre-sales proposal and solution design through system/operational setup, stabilization, ongoing improvement, and client support. This position acts as the key bridge between logistics operations, IT systems (WMS/TMS), and customer stakeholders, driving continuous innovation through process optimization, system enhancement, and AI-powered automation tools.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Proposal & Business Development
- Conduct on-site warehouse assessments and As-Is analysis for customer proposals, identifying operational pain points and inefficiencies based on raw data from current operations.
- Develop To-Be logistics models based on identified pain points, translating findings into actionable win strategies and a compelling proposal storyline (As-Is & To-Be, success case references, KPI/SLA frameworks).
- Lead end-to-end proposal development for open bidding and client-requested RFPs/RFQs, including complete proposal decks, process flowcharts, and solution overviews tailored to each customer’s logistics requirements.
- Develop and present Master Plans for Key Account Management (KAM) customers, supporting long-term business retention and expansion strategies in collaboration with sales and executive leadership.
- Conduct pre-analysis and solution design for new business initiatives, defining setup WBS, pre-execution requirements, and detailed operational solutions aligned with company strategy.
- Compile and apply Best Practice (BP) case studies across regions and business units, maintaining a reference library of outstanding operational practices for use in proposals and cross-business improvement initiatives.
- Participate in customer meetings, workshops, and regional strategy execution (e.g., GLC operational framework review and capability development) in alignment with company-defined directives.
- Support on-site customer visits for ongoing accounts, providing operational status reviews, data-driven directional consulting, and needs assessment in coordination with account teams.
- Research industry trends and emerging logistics technologies (e.g., automation, AI-driven routing, real-time visibility platforms) to strengthen Samsung SDS’s competitive positioning and value proposition in proposals.
- Leverage AI-powered analytics tools (demand forecasting, transportation routing optimization, warehouse slotting, scenario simulation) to enhance solution design quality and accelerate proposal development.
- Build cost models for warehousing, transportation, and technology; validate operational viability through SOP drafts, simulations, and facility walk-throughs in coordination with operations and engineering teams.
2. Operation, System & Settlement Setup / Stabilization
- Lead end-to-end operational setup for newly awarded business: plan and execute setup WBS from contract award through Go-Live, covering facility lease, infrastructure, staffing, equipment, process design, SOP creation, and QA frameworks.
- Drive operational stabilization for 2–4 weeks post Go-Live through on-site training, real-time troubleshooting, and process monitoring until all operational workflows run without disruption.
- Configure and implement WMS/TMS system modules (Cello) in collaboration with the development team, executing system setup WBS from award to system Go-Live, and driving 2–4 weeks of system stabilization through on-site training and issue resolution.
- Set up and stabilize settlement systems (Cello modules) from Go-Live through the first two billing cycles, ensuring accurate and timely settlement processing with no closing-period issues.
- Design and maintain Contingency Plans (manual operation SOPs) to ensure business continuity during planned system maintenance, unexpected outages, or other system-unavailable scenarios.
3. Training & User Enablement
- Deliver regular operation and system training sessions to operations leaders and functional staff (target: monthly for Key Accounts), covering current SOPs and system workflows; conduct ad-hoc training upon leadership transitions.
- Train operation site PICs on resolving WMS/TMS system issues through the SR (Service Request) process; provide ad-hoc system issue resolution education to minimize downtime and dependency on escalation.
- Develop, maintain, and standardize SOPs, settlement training materials, and issue resolution guides; conduct regular settlement training sessions to minimize billing errors and month-end closing issues.
- Ensure operations leaders cascade training to their respective functional teams (operations, system, settlement) and maintain a continuous learning environment across all site personnel.
4. Improvement & Innovation
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks across infrastructure, labor, equipment, KPIs, process flows, warehouse layout, capacity, productivity, and cost — providing consulting solutions and executing improvement initiatives.
- Develop and implement automation tools (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.) for manual operational tasks not yet covered by WMS/TMS system, streamlining repetitive workflows and improving data accuracy.
- Design and implement end-to-end Visibility tools (procurement, origin transport, ocean/air freight, drayage, transloading, raw material WH, production, FG WH, OTR), delivering real-time supply chain transparency to stakeholders.
- Diagnose WMS/TMS system issues (document transmission errors, data discrepancies, etc.), align with the development team on root cause analysis, and drive timely resolution to ensure uninterrupted operations.
- Manage new system feature development requests: write functional requirement documents, register SRs, coordinate development testing, apply to production servers, create SOPs, and train users through to stabilization.
- Drive business efficiency through AI automation tools; maintain quarterly updates to SDSA warehouse master data (Cello SVM) including operational status, facility type, lease terms, and rental costs across all managed sites.
5. Ongoing Operations, System & Settlement Support
- Provide ad-hoc on-site operational support when site teams face resource shortages, including direct assistance with operations execution, inventory counts, and system operation tasks.
- Step in to resolve WMS/TMS system errors and issues that site teams cannot resolve through standard SR processes; identify and address root causes to prevent recurrence and maintain uninterrupted operations.
- Resolve settlement system errors and closing issues that cannot be handled by site settlement teams; collaborate with development to fix root causes and ensure accurate, on-time billing and month-end closing.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison between logistics operations, IT developers, business analysts, finance teams, and external vendors, ensuring seamless communication and alignment across all workstreams.
- Support customer onboarding projects by tailoring WMS/TMS configurations to meet client-specific logistics requirements; participate in customer site visits to assess operational status and provide data-driven consulting direction.
- Lead regular project reviews, system health checks, settlement improvement meetings, and KPI performance discussions with internal stakeholders and client teams to drive continuous business retention and expansion.
