The Family Practice Physician will provide uninterrupted outpatient medical services to support the mission of the Indian Health Service. This role involves providing high-quality, comprehensive primary care to patients of all ages within the Navajo community. The physician will work under the general technical and administrative supervision of the Tsaile Health Center Chief Medical Officer.
Location: Tsaile Health Center, Tsaile, AZ
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
• Clinical Care: Provide a full range of family practice services, including preventive care, acute care, chronic disease management, mental health services, and minor surgical procedures.
• Diagnosis & Treatment: Perform patient interviews and physical examinations, review medical histories, and order/interpret diagnostic tests to formulate diagnoses and treatment plans.
• Patient Volume: Manage a typical patient load of approximately 16 patients per day, with 30-minute appointment slots.
• Medical Records: Utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to document all consultations, diagnoses, and treatment plans within 24 hours of the patient encounter.
• Referrals & Coordination: Coordinate and integrate specialty care by referring patients to appropriate medical facilities when necessary.
• Cultural Integration: Maintain a receptive and respectful attitude toward Navajo culture, incorporating traditional medicine practices and ceremonies into patient care for positive outcomes.
• Emergency Care: Provide emergency medical care as required and definitive management for cases not requiring immediate referral.
Qualification Requirements
• Education/Training: Must have completed thirty-six (36) months of Family Practice Physician Residency Training in the United States.
• Experience: Minimum of twelve (12) months of professional experience in family practice. Previous experience with the Indian Health Service is preferred.
• Board Certification: Must be Board Certified in Family Practice.
• Licensure: * Current, valid, and unrestricted state physician license. Full and unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license.
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
• Background Clearances: Must pass a Tier 1 (Low Risk) National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) and a character investigation in accordance with the Indian Health Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act.
