Description

Shipping & Production Assistant

  • Full-time position, on-site at 5005 S. Macadam Ave., Portland, OR.
  • Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30PM; occasional additional hours as needed.

Do you love working with your hands, take pride in getting every detail right, and genuinely care about natural health products? Are you the kind of person who doesn’t wait to be told what needs doing — you just see it and do it? If so, we want to meet you.

At the American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS), we’re a small, mission-driven team producing and shipping certified organic essential oils, botanicals, and academic lab kits to students and customers across the U.S. and globally. We operate within a GMP-compliant facility, with a strong focus on quality assurance, traceability, and proper handling of natural products. Every order we send out represents someone’s education and their journey into integrative health. We take that seriously — and we’re looking for someone who will too.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in daily production and fulfillment, including measuring, bottling, labeling, picking, packing, and shipping orders with accuracy and care. You’ll follow established GMP processes, maintain an organized workspace, and support smooth day-to-day operations. You’ll also help prepare and ship both ACHS student lab kits and retail orders through our Apothecary Shoppe College Store, ensuring accurate kitting, proper packaging, and on-time delivery aligned with academic schedules and customer expectations.

Our Portland production facility is Oregon Tilth Certified Organic and operates under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) — one of the most rigorous standards in the natural products industry.

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • You’ll work hands-on with high-quality certified organic essential oils, herbs, and natural ingredients every day.
  • No two days are exactly alike — this role keeps you moving, thinking, and contributing in real, tangible ways.
  • You’ll be part of a small team that genuinely cares about the work and supports each other to be successful
  • You’ll see the direct impact of your work: every kit you pack, every order you ship, reaches a real student on a real learning journey.

What You’ll Do

You’ll be an essential part of our production and fulfillment operation, keeping things running accurately, efficiently, and with care.

  • Receive, handle, package, and ship products — including essential oils, botanicals, and raw ingredients — in compliance with Oregon Tilth organic certification and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Package products with strong attention to detail and pride in presentation: labeling must be accurate and look great.
  • Pull, pack, and ship retail orders and student academic supplies domestically and internationally, ensuring every order is 100% accurate.
  • Maintain organized, accurate inventory through thorough record-keeping; proactively flag and report damages or discrepancies.
  • Keep the production area clean, organized, and fully compliant with GMP and organic standards — without being asked.
  • Accurately file production and shipping records.
  • Jump in to support teammates wherever the need arises — we’re a team that has each other’s backs.

Other Duties

You’re Our Ideal Candidate If You…

  • Bring genuine enthusiasm for natural health, organic products, and holistic wellness — this mission excites you, not just the paycheck.
  • You have experience with essential oils, botanicals, dietary supplements, or a GMP production environment; formal studies such as a Certificate in Natural Products Manufacturing, Certificate in Herbal Studies, or a Certificate in Aromatherapy a plus.
  • Take initiative: you spot what needs doing and do it, rather than waiting to be directed.
  • Work independently with speed and accuracy, and shift seamlessly into team mode when needed.
  • Adapt easily to changing priorities and stay positive when things shift.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally — with teammates, managers, and occasionally customers.
  • Have a sharp eye for detail and solid math skills (conversions of weights, volumes, and measurements).
  • Are comfortable on a Mac and with basic computer tasks.
