We are looking for a Wig and Makeup Technician whose role, as part of the Wardrobe team during day or night shifts, will be to ensure all wigs are well maintained and show ready, assist with makeup distribution and perform ongoing artist support to ensure the finest overall look on stage. All duties are to be performed in accordance with department and property policies, practices, and procedures.
The Wig and Makeup Technician will:
· Preserve the long-term integrity of wigs through regular maintenance practices, established by the Head of Department ("HOD") or Wig and Makeup Lead;
· Assist artists in their makeup application, step-by-step and follow up trainings, when needed;
· Perform cue tracks and document changes; learn and rotate tracks as assigned;
· Working knowledge of wig building, cutting, styling, maintenance, as well as makeup application;
· Assist in the makeup inventory tracking, ordering and distribution, when needed;
· Assist with the ordering, procuring and tracking of the department's expendables and equipment;
· Maintain a flexible schedule for work calls, special events, rehearsals, training, maintenance and evening show performances;
· Maintain costume, craft, wig bibles and other documentation;
· Create purchase rec. requests;
· Assist with PR events, working in costume or craft inventories;
· Follow safety practices and maintaining a safe working environment, keeping updated on yearly OSHA classes;
· Complete other job-related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
- College Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience;
- At least 2 years experience as a professional wig/makeup technician on a large-scale production show;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with co-workers; - Professional appearance and demeanor; - Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays; - High School diploma or equivalent; - Fluent in English, both written and spoken; - Ability to obtain OSHA 10 course completion card; - Previous experience working in a multicultural group environment; - Previous experience working in a similar theatrical setting; - Ability to perform the essential functions of the job including, but not limited to: crouching, kneeling, standing, lifting, sometimes for extended amounts of time; lifting at least 50lbs unassisted, etc.; Full list of essential functions will be sent in the offer.
