Department: Operations - Paint

Work Location: Transformers AR

Reports To: Value Stream Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Shift: 1st - Monday - Friday 7 am - 3:30 pm

Position Summary: The Team Lead oversees the day-to-day operations of a specific production team within the manufacturing environment. This role ensures that production goals are met efficiently and effectively while maintaining high quality and safety standards. The Team Lead plays a pivotal role in driving LEAN manufacturing practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement among operators.

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of production employees to achieve daily production, safety, and quality targets
  • Facilitate start-of-shift meetings to communicate priorities, production goals, and safety expectations
  • Monitor daily production flow, identify issues, and implement real-time solutions to maintain efficiency
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with standard operating procedures and quality requirements
  • Promote and enforce compliance with all safety standards, including OSHA and company policies
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and issue escalation
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance feedback to develop team capability
  • Coordinate with supervisors and cross-functional teams to align production activities across shifts and departments
  • Support labor planning and adjust staffing assignments to meet changing production needs
  • Ensure availability of materials, tools, and equipment to meet production goals
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives utilizing LEAN principles, including 5S and waste reduction
  • Track, report, and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate production, safety, and quality documentation

 

Requirements

Education and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing or production experience preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years in a leadership or team lead role preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing production demands
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with production or ERP systems

Physical and Environmental Requirements 

  • Lifting: Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Environment: Work in a facility with loud noise, extreme temperatures, and environmental stressors.
  • Physical Activities: Sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, crouch, reach, and grasp as needed.
  • PPE: Wear required PPE, including eye and hearing protection, gloves, and safety toe footwear.
  • Dexterity and Vision: Manual dexterity and specific vision abilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment).
  • Stamina: Stand for long shifts.
  • Skills: Effective communication, basic math skills, and teamwork.
  • Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and address hazards.

 

Working Conditions:

Manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
