This is a seconded position, meaning the selected candidate will be employed by ITAC but work full-time on assignment with one of our clients. While day-to-day responsibilities will be managed on-site with the client, ITAC provides ongoing support, resources, and benefits as your employer. Objective
We are seeking an Industrial Engineer to support production operations through time and motion studies, labor standards development, and process optimization initiatives within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in improving efficiency, balancing workloads, supporting production readiness, and driving continuous improvement through data-driven analysis and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
Process Analysis and Improvement
- Conduct detailed time and motion studies to establish labor standards, identify inefficiencies, and improve productivity.
- Analyze work elements, material flow, and workstation layouts to optimize manufacturing processes.
- Develop, validate, and maintain standard work documentation.
- Support line balancing and capacity analysis efforts for existing and new production lines.
- Identify opportunities for waste reduction using Lean principles.
Production and Project Support
- Support production readiness and ramp-up activities, including new product introductions (NPI) and model changes.
- Collaborate with operations, manufacturing engineering, quality, and safety teams to implement process improvements.
- Assist with risk identification and mitigation strategies related to labor, ergonomics, and throughput.
- Support continuous improvement events and kaizen activities.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Collect and analyze production, labor, and efficiency data.
- Track process improvement savings and report performance metrics and variances.
- Prepare documentation and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
Administrative and Collaboration
- Participate in estimating and cost analysis related to labor and manufacturing efficiency.
- Communicate effectively with multiple project managers and operations leaders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and professional development activities.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline preferred.
Experience
- 3+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role.
- Demonstrated experience performing time and motion studies and developing labor standards.
- Experience working in high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with new product introduction (NPI) and production ramp-up processes.
- Experience supporting or working during manufacturing plant shutdowns is a plus.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles, work measurement techniques, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Understanding of Six Sigma tools and data-driven problem-solving.
- Knowledge of general manufacturing safety requirements (including lock-out/tag-out, ergonomics, and standard work practices).
- Ability to troubleshoot production and process issues in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as Excel and manufacturing data systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage cross-functional teams.
