Waypoint offers comprehensive services, including a special purpose private school for children with autism and other developmental disabilities, case management and outpatient therapy services for children and adults, and residential and in-home supports for adults with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.

Position Overview

This position entails overarching responsibility for completing maintenance tasks for the organization.  They assist in ensuring the upkeep and safety of the vehicles, buildings, and equipment of all Waypoint programs and facilities.

Maintenance Technicians are responsible for recognizing and bringing to attention any potentially hazardous situations and any ideas which will contribute to the well-being and overall safety of Waypoint’s properties and programs.

Responsibilities

            Essential Duties

·         Responsible for keeping buildings and equipment in good condition, including but not limited to minor plumbing, electrical and carpentry, floor maintenance and painting.

 

·         Follow outlined safety procedures.

 

·         Responsible for outdoor work such as Grounds Maintenance, including but not limited to trash pick-up, trimming shrubs and trees, lawn mowing, raking, etc. in the summer and snow and ice removal in the winter that is not contracted out (including removal from roofs of buildings).

 

·         Responsible for upkeep of vehicles and boats.  Ensure they are registered, maintained, and cleaned as needed.

 

·         Responsible for assigned deliveries to program areas and other homes.

 

·         Responsible for keeping maintenance areas clean and well organized.

·         Follow all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe work environment.

·         Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and agency privacy policies.

·         May have access to sensitive or confidential information, including Protected Health Information (PHI), and must handle it according to policy.

·         Responsible for receiving deliveries (must be able to lift cases of food and cleaning items).

 

·         Work with minimal supervision and prioritize assigned work orders to ensure they are completed in a thorough and timely manner.

 

·     Have an open line of communication with supervisor to keep workload flowing smoothly.

 

·     Consistently maintain professional relationships with all internal and external contractors, suppliers, vendors and administrators.

 

·    Work with the training coordinator to set up for scheduled trainings and events as needed.

 

·   Attend training as scheduled by supervisor

 

·    Assist with tasks necessary to maintain required city, state and federal requirements regarding the physical upkeep of buildings and grounds.

 

·    Oxford Region maintenance tech will coordinate tasks and assess needs in partnership with the Manager of Operations, Oxford Region.

 

·    Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

·         High school education

·         Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools

·         Ability to understand and follow directions as given

·         Must have a strong work ethic and be a self-starter

·         Must have valid driver’s license from state of residence and a clean driving record

·         Follow agency policies and procedures

·         Must be willing to attend mandated state and/or agency training in a timely manner

            Education/Experience

·         High school education

·         Minimum of two years of experience in building trades, general construction, plumbing, electrical work, or related fields preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

·         Ability to lift to 70 lbs independently

·         Ability to work outside in varying weather conditions; rain, heat, cold, wind

·         Ability to left arms over head, carry items, climb stairs and maneuver uneven terrain.

·         Ability to stand for extended periods of time
