Subtle Capital is a premier early-stage venture capital firm based in Dallas, TX. The firm provides early-stage capital and strategic expertise to disruptive founders who are committed to building extraordinary companies. Subtle Capital targets Pre-Seed to Series A investments geographically focused within the United States with select investments in EMEA and APAC. To date, the company has made investment in over 25 companies and funds.

Subtle Capital is seeking to hire an Analyst to join the team in Dallas, TX (Hybrid). This Analyst role will be exposed to many aspects of the firm with responsibilities in investment due diligence, portfolio company support, financial modeling & analysis, community engagement & deal sourcing, and internal operations support. As an Analyst, you’ll learn the ins and outs of the VC industry and have insight into fast-growing technology startups.

Responsibilities include:

Investments:

• Review and Evaluate Deal Flow: Review inbound deals sent to the investment team, provide high-level evaluations, and advance relevant deals to introductory calls
• Deal Overviews: Create concise, high-level summaries of deals post-introductory call to brief other team members and decide whether to proceed with detailed diligence
• Deal Tracking and Management: Use internal systems to track and manage deal flow through the diligence pipeline
• Support in Diligence Process: Assist in creating investment memos for deals moving forward to the investment committee
• Analyze industry trends, financial data, and market developments to support the development of Subtle Capital's investment thesis

Portfolio Management:

• Day-to-Day Management: Provide management services to portfolio companies, including evaluating follow-on investments and facilitating capital calls
• Tracking Investment Performance: Maintain and enhance systems for tracking the performance of investments, possibly developing new tools or integrating new software solutions
• Collect, curate, and analyze financial data and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across all our investments
• Compliance Support: Assist the CFO with compliance-related tasks for both existing and new investments

Operations:

• Meeting Coordination: Assist with scheduling meetings and coordinating events for the team
• Accounting Support: Manage accounting tasks like consolidating receipts, managing expenses, and creating financial reports
• Stay plugged into the startup ecosystem by attending startup events
• Assist with the management of Subtle Capital sponsored events across our portfolio and ecosystem

Miscellaneous:

• Internal Documentation: Help prepare weekly meeting agendas and update documents tracking ongoing tasks
• Research and Reporting: Conduct research on technology and venture capital topics and prepare notes for internal use and blog posts
• Presentation Preparation: Assist in creating slide decks for both internal and external meetings

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Strong academic track record
• Detail oriented, but able to see how things fit into the “big picture”
• Strong organizational skills (management of multiple tasks, priorities, people, and flows of information)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Passionate about technology and innovation
• Desire to work in an entrepreneurial environment
• Prior experience in venture capital, private equity, corporate development, consulting, investment banking, start-up leadership, or related fields is a plus
