Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Land Surveying Intern to support our surveying team in the field. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced surveying techniques, tools, and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Support field surveyors in executing a range of construction survey activities
Collect and record information using robotic total stations, digital levels, and GPS equipment
Assist in interpreting field data to create precise topographic plans, including downloading, processing and editing the collected data
Explore and document geographical information from the landscape
Verify elevations, volumes, and locations of existing structures and services
Assist in determining and laying out land boundaries
Assist in the layout of fill areas, preload corners, and building locations
Liaise with project managers, contractors, and members of the public under the supervision of the survey team.
Clear brush and debris from survey lines when required
Transport survey equipment safely
Work safely within defined safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment
Assist in the calculation, analysis and computation of measurements gathered during field surveys
Maintain an organized library of site records, measurements, and survey data
Perform other duties as required
Desired Skills and Experience
Currently enrolled in a post-secondary or college institution, pursuing a degree in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field
Basic knowledge of conventional survey instruments, robotic total stations, digital levels, and GPS equipment is preferred
Familiarity with computer applications such as Civil3D, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office is an asset
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A valid B.C. driver’s license and access to a vehicle
