Our Checkout experience plays a critical role in that mission - shaping how customers move from basket to confirmation with confidence, clarity, and even a little joy.
We're recruiting a Lead Product Designer for Checkout on a 9 month Fixed Term Contract (starting from mid June - early July). You’ll own a high-impact part of the customer journey that directly influences conversion, payment experience, and delivery reassurance across web and app.
Reporting to the Director of Product Design, you’ll lead two designers across Checkout and Design Systems while remaining close to the craft yourself. This is a true player-coach role: you’ll define the vision for best-in-class checkout and post-purchase experiences, stay hands-on in Figma, and guide high-quality execution from discovery through delivery.
You’ll work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Commercial teams to shape strategy and roadmap, ensuring design thinking drives decision-making. With access to strong research and insight support, you’ll champion experimentation, evidence-based design, and measurable impact - making it effortless for customers to buy on Moonpig.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor Product Designers to define a vision for best-in-class checkout and post-purchase experiences across all platforms
Drive end-to-end design for the Checkout domain, from discovery through delivery, ensuring every detail contributes to ease of use, clarity, and conversion
Act as a player-coach, balancing hands-on design work with people leadership — joining team ceremonies, getting into Figma, and shaping designs that make buying on Moonpig effortless
Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to prioritise design work and identify opportunities for experimentation, validation, and iteration
Ensure squads deliver best-practice design across both web and native app experiences
Use data and insight to refine checkout flows, payment options, delivery confidence, and customer reassurance
Advocate for Product Design across the organisation, partnering with commercial, marketing, and operations teams to keep design at the heart of decisions
Support your team’s growth through clear feedback, development plans, and career coaching
Champion a culture of innovation, rapid testing, and continuous improvement in how we design, validate, and measure success
About you:
Ideally 8+ years’ experience in product design and user research, ideally in fast-moving e-commerce environments
Ideally 3+ years’ experience managing Product Designers and supporting their development
Strong experience in checkout or ecommerce flows, with a deep understanding of conversion optimisation, payment UX, and trust patterns
A proven ability to provide thought leadership and guide a team towards a shared goal
Experience coaching designers to think strategically and make high-quality, impactful decisions
Able to balance user needs with commercial goals, positively influencing conversion, retention, and business KPIs
Comfortable staying hands-on in delivery, supporting squads with roadmap commitments
Excellent communication and analytical skills
Confident influencing senior stakeholders and shaping roadmaps aligned to business priorities
Experience designing across both web and native app platforms
