Overview
Surface Post Launch Engineering (PLE) is responsible for ensuring highquality customer experience for Surface devices after launch. The team focuses on device health, reliability, performance, and quality by using inmarket telemetry, customer signals, and system health data.
We are seeking a Product Manager II who will own problem discovery and prioritization for inmarket Surface experiences. This role is responsible for defining what problems to solve and why, using data and customer impact as primary inputs, and driving crossfunctional alignment to improve outcomes.
This role focused on problem ownership and decisionmaking.

Responsibilities

Own problem discovery and prioritization for Surface postlaunch experiences using telemetry, IMR/PSAT metrics, and customer feedback.

Define clear problem statements, hypotheses, and success criteria grounded in customer and device health impact.

Make datainformed trade-off decisions balancing customer experience, security, quality, and servicing constraints.

Drive alignment across crossfunctional teams (OS, firmware, drivers, hardware, servicing) to resolve highimpact issues.

Communicate insights, priorities, and impact to stakeholders and senior leadership through clear, databacked narratives.

Translate inmarket learnings into early signals that inform future product decisions and improve Day0 quality.

Proactively explore and apply AIassisted tools to improve productivity in analysis, synthesis, documentation, and product workflows.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
-
Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development

OR equivalent experience.
-
2+ years of experience owning product problem definition, prioritization, and outcomes with engineering teams.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to reason from data to customer and product decisions.

Ability to influence without direct authority in complex, ambiguous environments.

Demonstrated experience owning product decisions driven by telemetry, customer signals, or system health metrics.

Experience defining and prioritizing problems in live site or postlaunch product environments.

Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present data backed insights to senior stakeholders.

Growth mindset: curiosity, learning agility, and continuous improvement in product judgment and decision making.

Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree AND 5–7 years of professional experience in product management, engineering, or data driven product roles,
-
OR equivalent practical experience.

Experience with telemetry and data analysis tools (for example: Kusto, Power BI, or equivalent).

Exposure to system level products, including OS, drivers, firmware, and hardware interactions.

Experience operating in environments with security, quality, and servicing constraints.

Interest in leveraging AI assisted tools to improve personal and team productivity in product management workflows.
