Job Summary
Aretum is seeking a motivated and talented Network Administrator. As a Network Administrator, you will be assisting in the installation, configuration, maintenance, and management of network services.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Installation and maintenance of routers, switches, and wireless controllers utilizing appropriate tools
- Ensure that router, switch, and other network equipment installation, repair and maintenance is performed in accordance with Cisco's proper procedures
- Monitor environmental factors of data centers and network closets
- Use the ServiceNow ticketing system to track and document all changes to switch runs, closet configurations, and monument setups
- Maintain network equipment records in an automated system, update network maps and perform configuration management
- Use tools to perform monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of telecommunication circuits including DWDM optical circuits
- Use network management tools and related test equipment
- Travel to client sites as needed
- Prepare necessary reports
- Ensure that complete, quality documentation is maintained
- Clearly and accurately detail, monitor, and track all work through Footprints
- Work requests opened and assigned by Service Desk
- Effectively communicate directly with technical and management personnel
- Execute notification escalation procedures as defined by client; coordinate services and status with Service Desk
- Attend meetings
Requirements
- 5 years of applicable experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (can be substituted for 2 additional years of experience)
- Experience with installation and maintenance of routers, switches, and wireless controllers
- Knowledge of Cisco's proper procedures
- Deep understanding of building infrastructure, including but not limited to, wiring pathways, conduits, and general building construction
- Experience with telecommunication circuits to include DWDM optical circuits
- Open to travel to client sites in the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia areas, as needed
- Knowledge of how environmental factors can affect data centers and network closets
- Network management and testing experience
- ServiceNow ticketing experience
- Reporting and equipment record keeping experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco certifications
Travel Requirements
Travel to client locations is required for this position and may vary based on project needs.
