Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer with a strong background in the design and analysis of steel structures supporting static equipment in Oil & Gas and heavy engineering projects. The role demands hands-on expertise in STAAD Pro, structural codes, and coordination with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and constructible designs.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform structural analysis and design of steel structures supporting static equipment such as heaters, boilers, stacks, columns, vessels, and pipe racks.
Develop and validate 3D analytical models in STAAD Pro, including load combinations for operating, erection, transportation, wind, seismic, and thermal cases.
Design load-bearing, service, hot and cold structures, including platforms, derricks, and supporting frames.
Execute lifting, transportation, and erection analysis for heavy equipment and modular structures.
Ensure compliance with international and Indian codes/standards (IS, AISC, ASCE, Eurocodes, IBR where applicable).
Review vendor drawings, calculations, and fabrication documents for technical compliance.
Coordinate with process, piping, mechanical, and construction teams to ensure interface alignment.
Support design optimization initiatives for modularization and plug-and-play concepts.
Prepare design reports, calculation notes, and respond to client/consultant technical queries.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
5–10 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemicals, or Heavy Engineering.
Proven experience in structural design for static equipment support structures.
Strong proficiency in STAAD Pro (mandatory).
Working knowledge of ANSYS (structural) is an added advantage.
Experience with lifting and transportation analysis is highly desirable.
Software Proficiency:
STAAD Pro – Advanced (mandatory)
AutoCAD / AutoCAD Mechanical
Any 3D modelling software (Inventor or SolidWorks / Preferably CadWorx)
ANSYS (Structural) – desirable
Key Competencies:
Strong fundamentals in structural mechanics and steel design
Ability to independently execute and review complex analyses
Design optimization and problem-solving mindset
Clear technical communication and documentation skills
Adaptability to fast-paced, project-driven environments
