SAR High School is a mission-driven, co-educational, Modern Orthodox Jewish high school committed to student-centered learning in a challenging and supportive environment.
At SAR High School, the Health and Wellness Coordinator (HaWC) is a mental health professional who is attached to 1 of the 4 grades and is an integral part of that grade level team. The grade level team consists of the HaWC, the Grade Level Coordinator (GLC), the school psychologists, and the grade level administrator. The HaWC has a strong presence on the grade level team and develops at least some connection to every student within the grade. The HaWC helps to plan and oversee grade-level programming and helps to facilitate a positive culture and a sense of community within the grade by collaborating with students, teachers, parents and the school administration. The HaWC also functions as part of the Mental Health and Wellness department, which comprises the 2 school psychologists and all 4 of the HaWCs; this department meets weekly and provides consultation and supervision by the school psychologists. As part of the Mental Health and Wellness department, the HaWC also teaches a section of the 10th grade Health class.
