Illumination has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Director of Social Media to lead the development and execution of social strategies that engage, grow, and manage Illumination’s audiences across platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep social media expertise, a passion for innovation, and a strong ability to align paid, earned, and owned social content with Illumination’s mission of bringing joy through its brand.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as our internal expert on social media providing strategy, insights, and proactively seeking opportunities to innovate and evolve across existing and emerging platforms.
  • Support the development and drive the execution of all social media marketing campaigns for theatrical releases across multiple platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter and Facebook) while partnering with the internal creative team and agencies on ideation. 
  • Own social media analytics and reporting, including social listening, leveraging internal tools to deliver insights for key campaign moments and overall franchise performance.
  • Stay current on the evolving creator landscape and identify opportunities for creator partnerships that enhance campaign reach, engagement, and content impact.
  • Own campaign and franchise editorial calendars, including daily content planning, scheduling, publishing, and community engagement across platforms in collaboration with agency partners.
  • Lead internal and external communication around social strategies, campaigns, and key assets, including presenting plans and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain a pulse on user generated content for our campaigns and franchises, and develop strategies for driving more Earned creation and conversation within those communities. 
  • Work in conjunction with the creative team to ensure consistency in brand voice and visual style across all Illumination social channels.
  • Own the pipeline for creation and distribution of social content alongside our agency partners, serving as point of contact with key stakeholders to ensure that content is posted in a timely and relevant fashion.  
  • Manage relationships with social media tools and service providers and be on the pulse of new and emerging vendors in this area.   
  • Partner internally with teams engaging online with other sites such as LinkedIn and other career sites to provide guidance on consistent voice, look, feel and tone.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5+ years progressive experience leading strategy through execution within the social media marketing space
  • Strong history of developing and executing successful social media campaigns
  • Proven experience managing earned opportunities on major platforms
  • Proven experience as a social media thought leader influencing senior executives and gaining buy-in within a matrix organization
  • Ability to craft messages and speak effectively to a broad demo base on social media while being on brand and with a relevant point of view
  • Ability to articulate the impact of social campaigns as it relates to broader business and marketing objectives
  • Proven experience leveraging established analytic reporting tools to synthesize and interpret data to support ideas and validate results; ability to tell a story with data in a compelling and easy to understand manner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills that include the ability to influence, guide and excite internal and external partners, in the conveying of information of all types to all levels
  • Strong presentation skills a must
  • Proven copywriting skills, as well as the ability to communicate in brand tone and voice; comedy sensibility is key
  • Experience advertising on platforms such as Google, YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter and others
  • Familiarity with design, video production and photo editing software and programs
  • Expert at navigating challenging, fast paced and changing dynamics
  • Proven experience independently overseeing multiple projects and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and quality
  • Bachelor’s degree in the marketing, or equivalent degree/work experience


The base salary range for this role is $130,000 - $150,000 per year.
