Description
PURPOSE:
As an ES&E Design Engineer, you will design electrical control panel layouts in 2D/3D, power systems and construction packages. You will design electrical control and power circuits that utilize voltages from 24 volts DC up to 480 volts AC.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and modify electrical control panel drawings, layouts and schematics.
- Create 2D and 3D footprints of components as required.
- Perform hardware investigation and assist with selection of components.
- Create Bills of Material (BOM)
- Design control cabinets that will include: PLC systems, power supplies, safety devices, analog & discrete control wiring, and cabinet thermal management.
- Size control cabinet breakers, fusing, wiring, and overloads based on cabinet and field device loads.
- Author and execute Panel Factory Acceptance Test documentation.
- Check drawings for accuracy and completeness.
Requirements
- 4 years’ experience in design
- Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Capable of providing detailed status of their projects.
- Thorough knowledge of industrial electrical design and drafting.
- Knowledgeable of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 79 (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery).
- Self‐motivated and willing to learn mentality.
- Applies good manufacturing practices in designs.
- Current with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, and/or other 3D design software.
- Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Must be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must be extremely detail oriented and able to communicate effectively.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Mechatronics.
- Experience with control hardware applications which include Rockwell panel components.
- Capable of solving problems independently and takes ownership of assigned project tasks.
- “Hands on” electrical/mechanical experience or hobbies.
