Your role and responsibilities

As an Application Database Administrator, you will specialize in managing and optimizing databases to ensure the smooth operation and efficient performance of applications relying on databases. Your expertise in database concepts, system administration, and programming will be crucial in delivering high-quality solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include: • Install and Configure Databases: Install, configure, and maintain databases to meet business requirements, ensuring high availability and implementing disaster recovery strategies to minimize downtime.

• Performance Tuning: Perform performance tuning to optimize database efficiency, leveraging your understanding of database concepts and system administration to identify areas for improvement.

• Database Maintenance: Maintain databases to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards, utilizing your knowledge of programming and database management best practices.

• Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity in the event of database failure or data loss, aligning with organizational requirements and industry standards.

• System Administration: Collaborate with system administrators to ensure seamless integration of databases with overall system architecture, applying your understanding of system administration principles to drive efficient operations.

Required technical and professional expertise

• Database Management Experience: Experience with database management systems, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases to meet business requirements, ensuring high availability and implementing disaster recovery strategies.

• Performance Optimization: Experience in performance tuning to optimize database efficiency, leveraging understanding of database concepts and system administration to identify areas for improvement.

• System Administration Knowledge: Experience with system administration principles, collaborating with system administrators to ensure seamless integration of databases with overall system architecture.

• Database Security and Compliance: Experience in maintaining databases to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards, utilizing knowledge of programming and database management best practices.

• Disaster Recovery Planning: Experience in developing and implementing disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity in the event of database failure or data loss, aligning with organizational requirements and industry standards.

Preferred technical and professional experience

• Database Product Familiarity: Experience with various database products such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, DB2, and Teradata, with the ability to manage and optimize databases for high availability and performance.

• Advanced Database Concepts: Experience with advanced database concepts, including performance tuning, disaster recovery strategies, and database security, to ensure efficient database operations and compliance with organizational standards.

• Programming Skills: Experience with programming languages and database management best practices to maintain data integrity, security, and compliance with organizational standards.
