The Buyer is responsible for executing procurement activities that support production, inventory, and customer requirements in a regulated manufacturing environment. This role ensures timely, cost-effective acquisition of materials and services while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality systems and ITAR/export control regulations. The Buyer works closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, and Suppliers to maintain continuity of supply and accurate procurement records.

Requirements

  • Collaborate with Planning, Manufacturing, and Quality to support production schedules and material requirements.
  • Source materials and services in compliance with ISO 9001 / AS9100 and ITAR/export control requirements.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate supplier quotations to achieve best value based on total cost, quality, delivery, and risk.
  • Issue, manage, and maintain purchase orders and supplier agreements in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance and actively expedite orders to prevent material shortages or production disruptions.
  • Review purchase order acknowledgements, supplier documentation, and invoices for accuracy and contractual compliance.
  • Resolve and document supplier issues, including non-conformances, shortages, late deliveries, and pricing discrepancies, in coordination with Quality and Materials.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation to support audits, traceability, and document control requirements.
  • Support supplier qualification, evaluation, and continuous improvement activities within the Supplier Development Program.
  • Participate in physical inventory counts and maintaining inventory accuracy within the ERP system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on business needs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in a regulated (ISO, AS, ITAR) environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrate understanding of technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing terminology.
  • Experience working with suppliers on pricing, lead times, and delivery commitments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (filters, formulas, basic analysis).
  • Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience preferred.
  • Understanding of procurement controls, documentation requirements, and audit readiness in regulated environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow established procedures, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
  • Strong communication skills with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
  • APICS certifications (CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent) preferred.
