Description
Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist is responsible for effective recruitment and onboarding efforts partnering with hiring managers to attract and select top talent. Their role includes developing and executing efficient onboarding programs to ensure early employee success. The HR Generalist will drive initiatives that enhance the overall employee experience, focusing on employee engagement, communication, and retention strategies. This position also supports key HR functions including compliance, benefits administration, policy administration, and performance management processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
include, but are not limited to the following:
- Recruitment and Hiring: Posting job openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, coordinating the hiring process, and making employment offers.
- Onboarding: Developing and executing new employee orientation programs, including paperwork processing, benefits enrollment, and introductions to company culture.
- Retention: Develop processes to monitor employee experience, improve employee engagement, and retain top talent.
- Benefits Administration: Enrolling employees in health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits programs, answering questions related to benefits, and managing changes.
- Compliance: Ensuring adherence to employment laws, including federal and state regulations, regarding discrimination, harassment, and workplace safety.
- Policy Administration: Interpreting and enforcing company policies and procedures.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Maintaining employee records, generating HR reports, and analyzing data to identify trends and inform decision-making.
- Other duties as assigned to support the efficient operations of the Tribe.

- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely, and effectively.
- Ability to organize/maintain detailed records; complete necessary paperwork and meet deadlines.
- Must be independent and self-motivated to complete required tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
- Must have computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize a range of personal computer resources and applications.
- Must be able to demonstrate respect for and awareness of Native American customs, traditions, and socioeconomic needs.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday - Friday
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
1-hour lunch break (unpaid)
Requirements
General Requirements:
- Must be insurable through the Tribe’s vehicle insurance.
- Must pass a criminal and fingerprint background check according to P.L. 101-630 standards.
- Must be able to pass an alcohol/drug screening.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma, equivalent GED or higher.
- One (1) year of experience in Human Resources or a related field.
- One (1) year of office work required.
- Preferred one (1) year experience in recruiting.
- Preferred one (1) year experience working with a Tribal Government or Tribal Organization.
License & Certification:
- Must possess, maintain, and provide proof of a valid Driver’s License required.
- Must obtain and provide proof of a valid Tribal Human Resource Professional (THRP) certification within one (1) year of hire date and maintain thereafter required.
