Position Description

FlexEnergi is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth by building and expanding relationships with Coops and Munis. This role focuses on identifying new opportunities for FlexEnergi’s Capacity-as-a-Service (CaaS) and virtual power plant solutions, creating and managing the sales pipeline, creating business case for the utility, and arranging for decision maker meetings and presentations.


Job Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and close new business opportunities with Coops and Munis
  • Develop and manage relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders
  • Create business case for the utility
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to align customer needs with solutions
  • Track market trends, customer feedback, and competitive landscape

This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in scaling innovative grid solutions that support reliability, affordability, and decarbonization.

Requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, economics, or a related field (MBA a plus)
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, partnerships, or strategy, in energy, utilities, or cleantech
  • Working knowledge of electric utility markets, DERs, demand response, VPPs, or grid services
  • Experience responding to utility RFPs and negotiating commercial contracts
  • Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to manage a pipeline, forecast revenue, and close complex, long-cycle deals
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, engineering, regulatory, and operations teams
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet customers and partners
