Sr. Product Manager at UnitedMasters | Translation
UnitedMasters | Translation · San Francisco, Canada · Remote
Who We Are
UnitedMasters is building a marketplace that connects artists, brands and fans - empowering artists to earn and grow. UnitedMasters has taken the bold step of building a music distribution service that, radically, puts artists first - disrupting the legacy music business by letting up-and-coming artists distribute their music directly to fans through streaming services while maintaining ownership of their master recording rights and up to 100% of royalties. Through the combination of UnitedMasters’ music distribution platform and its deep ties to brands, UnitedMasters enables independent artists and change-makers to grow and earn unlike any other platform.
The UnitedMasters team is made up of musicians, marketers, engineers, and storytellers with backgrounds from YouTube, SoundCloud, Pandora, Facebook, Uber, Dropbox, Complex, VICE, and more. We work hand in hand with the award-winning creative teams that forge those innovative partnerships at Translation (our in-house creative advertising agency).
UnitedMasters is looking for a Senior Product Manager with strong experience driving business results by obsessing over the functional and emotional needs of creators and small business owners (think: indie record label owners) at every stage of their growth. In this role, you will partner closely with engineering, design, marketing, sales, and operations teams to improve and expand the full UnitedMasters product suite including tools for early stage artists, high traction artists, and independent record labels.
This role is based in San Francisco with four days in-office and one day remote.
What You'll Do
- Build and champion a unified product roadmap that supports all of our customers early-stage artists, artists gaining traction, and independent labels—and ensure they have the tools they need to release music, grow an audience, and earn money.
- Continuously collect and synthesize customer feedback across all segments through research, interviews, product analytics, and our customer-facing teams. Translate these insights into clear product requirements and roadmap priorities that increase adoption, satisfaction, and long-term retention.
- Stay deeply informed about the competitive landscape, understanding how other platforms work and identifying opportunities for UnitedMasters to stand out and deliver more value to creators and labels.
- Develop a deep understanding of the end-to-end customer experience, from onboarding and releasing new music to reviewing performance and earnings—ensuring every step is intuitive, reliable, and delightful.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams who work directly with artists and labels every day to ensure our tools, features, and support deliver maximum value and help customers succeed.
- Uphold a high bar of quality, ensuring that everything we launch will delight customers, be easy to use, and attract and retain independent artists and labels.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to translate big, ambiguous problems with multiple stakeholders into clear plans.
- You connect features directly to desired outcomes & key results to ensure we build the highest impact features that ladder up to our company-wide goals.
- You prioritize ruthlessly and know how to make tradeoffs between speed, scale, and cost.
- You break down bigger problems and features into smaller iterative milestones with clear success criteria that gates future phases of work, and ensures we don’t make over-sized investments relative to the value and impact that they deliver to our customers.
- Expertise in translating customer and stakeholder needs into clear & concise product requirements, and managing workflow (ideally using JIRA/Confluence).
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in product management, launching high-impact features from start to finish.
