ABM, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions, is seeking a Chief Engineer.

The Chief Engineer will oversee and support designated leadership in the daily operations of all building systems. Responsibilities include managing hard surface maintenance and repair, performing basic carpentry and metal work, and ensuring the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of all facility system equipment associated with HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems. The Chief Engineer will also respond to customer requests, manage work orders from submission to completion, and perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00 / annual salary (US Dollars)
The pay listed is the salary range for this position. Any specific offer will vary based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data. You may be eligible to participate in a Company incentive or bonus program

Essential functions

  • Leadership & Supervision:
  • Manage and direct engineering staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations. Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Operations & Maintenance:
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Respond to emergency situations and troubleshoot system failures promptly.
  • Project Management:
  • Coordinate and supervise capital improvement projects and system upgrades.
  • Review and approve work orders, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
  • Budget & Reporting:
  • Assist in preparing and managing budgets for maintenance and repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and compliance documentation.
  • Customer Service:
  • Respond to client requests and ensure service delivery meets contractual obligations.
  • Minimum requirements

  • Education & Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or engineering degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in building operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Certifications:
  • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification required.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., Electrical License, Boiler Operator) preferred.
  • Other Requirements:
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks in confined spaces or at heights.
