We are seeking an experienced and detail-driven Fire Protection Engineer to join our team. This individual will lead the design, analysis, and implementation of fire protection systems across a variety of projects. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of fire protection engineering experience and holds an active Professional Engineer (PE) license. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety, compliance, and high-quality design standards.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and engineering of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, suppression systems, and life safety plans.
Perform hydraulic calculations, code reviews, system modeling, and technical analysis.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, local jurisdictions, etc.).
Conduct site assessments, system evaluations, and fire protection audits.
Prepare engineering reports, specifications, drawings, and other project documentation.
Collaborate with architects, contractors, and project teams to ensure fire protection requirements are integrated into overall designs.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers or designers.
Support project management with cost estimates, scheduling input, and client communication.
Assist with permitting, inspections, and coordination with AHJs as needed.
Qualifications
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license, ideally in Fire Protection Engineering.
5+ years of fire protection engineering experience (design, analysis, code compliance, system modeling, etc.).
Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and fire/life safety regulations.
Proficiency with fire protection design software (e.g., AutoSPRINK, HydraCAD, Revit, or similar).
Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in consulting engineering or with multidisciplinary project teams.
Experience interacting with AHJs and supporting permitting processes.
NICET certifications (Level III/IV) in relevant disciplines are a plus.
