Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Security Engineer to join our team supporting a government contract delivering secure, compliant, and resilient technology solutions. This role is ideal for a professional with deep knowledge of cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance, who can lead security initiatives and ensure mission-critical systems are protected against evolving threats.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise security solutions across networks, applications, and cloud environments.
Develop, enforce, and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with government and industry frameworks (NIST, FedRAMP, CIS, DISA STIGs).
Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and threat modeling to identify security gaps and recommend mitigations.
Collaborate with DevOps, system engineers, architects, and product teams to integrate security into development, deployment, and operational processes.
Lead incident response and investigation efforts, including forensic analysis and remediation.
Mentor and guide junior security engineers, promoting best practices and security awareness across the team.
Support audit and compliance activities, ensuring all systems meet regulatory and contractual requirements.
Evaluate, recommend, and deploy security tools and technologies to enhance threat detection, monitoring, and prevention.
Participate in security architecture reviews and provide guidance on secure system design.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience.
5+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information security engineering, or related roles.
In-depth knowledge of security frameworks and standards (NIST, FedRAMP, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001).
Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and secure cloud architecture practices.
Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
Must reside in the Continental US.
Depending on the government agency, specific requirements may include obtaining a public trust background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or related field.
Experience supporting state federal government IT programs specifically within CMS or health industry.
Relevant certifications: CISSP, CISM, CEH, AWS Security Specialty, or equivalent.
Experience with penetration testing tools and methodologies.
Knowledge of risk management frameworks (RMF) and incident response frameworks.
Familiarity with scripting and automation for security tasks (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
