Responsibilities
The Sterile Processing Technician 1 is responsible for the sterile processing of supplies and maintenance of the operating room and various other departments within the hospital. Accountabilities 1. Processes surgical instrumentation by decontamination (i.e., cleaning) utilizing various mechanical or manual methods.2. Prepares trays and packs by organizing in a prescribed manner while carefully checking for broken or missing items.3. Performs sterilization procedures utilizing several of acceptable methodologies.4. Reports defective or missing items to the team leader or manager.5. Maintains storage and adequate supplies of sterilized instrumentation.6. Provides department support to staff by assisting them in locating an item.7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Qualifications
Education• High School Diploma, High School Equivalency (HSE) or Completion of a CHS Approved Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Certificate required Experience• Experience in a medical or hospital environment, preferably working with medical/surgical supplies required or• Current enrollment or completion of a Sterile Processing/Central Service Technician program required • Microbiology and/or knowledge of steam and Ethylene Oxide sterilization preferred Licenses and Certifications• CRCST - Certified Registered Central Services Technician Certification from IAHCSMM preferred• BLS - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers by American Heart Association (AHA) preferred Other Qualifications / NotesDisclaimers
