This a PART-TIME position scheduled for 20-25 hours per week. Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of clinical/medical massage experience in a clinical setting and current licensure by the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy. This position is subject to pre-hire and random drug screening including marijuana.
Position Summary:
Performs therapeutic massage on patients to improve circulation, promote relaxation, relieve stress, pain, injuries and aid in the ease of adjustment for chiropractors.
Essential Functions:
- Establish respectful, compassionate, and therapeutic environments by providing individualized and culturally appropriate care to patients.
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on referrals from providers.
- Provide various massage techniques such as deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy and lymphatic drainage.
- Treat patients with conditions such as chronic pain, sports injuries, post-surgical recovery, and stress-related disorders.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient treatment records.
- Collaborate with other professionals such as chiropractors, physicians, and advanced practitioners.
- Communicate treatment outcomes and recommendations to referring providers.
- Follow provider orders and treatment protocols as appropriate.
- Provide massage in clinics, at health fairs and other community events.
- Promote a calming environment for the patient with lighting and sound/music.
- Adhere to infection-control policies and procedures and maintain clean linens and environment.
- Protect patient information and abide by HIPAA regulations and professional ethical standards.
- Stay current with evidence-based massage therapy techniques and medical research.

Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Current licensure by the Michigan Board of Massage Therapy.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and time management abilities.
- Proficient in multiple massage modalities and therapeutic techniques. Possesses diverse manual techniques.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical/medical massage experience in a clinical setting required.
- Proficiency with MS Office Applications is required.
- Experience in documenting in an electronic health record required. EPIC EHR experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Work is physically demanding in nature.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions.
- Good physical stamina to provide consistent effective massage.
- Manual dexterity and hand strength to perform massage techniques
- Use of proper body mechanics.
- Frequently requires the use of hands and fingers, arms and body to manipulate patients.
- Frequently required to talk and hear.
Work Environment:
- Work in well-lit, heated, air-conditioned buildings.
- Occasionally working outside at Pow Wows and other community events.
- May be exposed to blood, body tissue and fluids as well as hazardous substances/chemicals.
- Exposure to noise of agitated patients, significant work pace/pressure.
