About the Department
Responsible for the supervision of a variety of swimming and recreational activities at a municipal pool. Ensures the efficient and safe operation of the pool for the convenience, enjoyment and safety of patrons. Work is performed under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Position Duties
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by some experience as a lifeguard; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. Must have a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding or Shallow Water Lifeguard certificate. In addition, a valid American Red Cross First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications.
Certification as an American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor, or Pool Operator certifications preferred. Must have a valid Florida driver's license with a satisfactory driving record throughout employment. National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification preferred (level to be determined by job classification requirements) or obtain within one year of employment.
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.
Minimum Qualifications
