ABSTRACT OF THE POSITION
Under the direct guidance of the Center Director the Infant/Toddler Teacher I works as a partner with the Early Childhood Program Teachers. This position assists in developing activities for infants and toddlers, preschool, and or Nevada Ready! children to provide them with varied experiences and an appropriate learning environment. The Infant/Toddler Teacher I works with typically developing children, children with disabilities, and families to promote parental involvement in the program. This position provides assistance to the Early Childhood Program Teachers in fulfilling the goals, policies, and activities designed to achieve educational objectives and meet performance standards. The Infant/Toddler Teacher I Floater may be assigned additional duties and to various classrooms/centers based upon program need and area of developing expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- Develop and implement a culturally sensitive program supporting child development.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment for infants and toddlers.
- Cover for staff during break times to maintain teacher/child ratios.
- Foster positive self-esteem and understanding of diverse cultures.
- Encourage and involve parents in developmental activities.
- Promote program mission, standards, and regulations.
- Adhere to all Federal, state, and local childcare regulations.
- Attend required meetings and follow occupational disease prevention regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Lifting, bending, and kneeling to care for infants/toddlers
- Interacting with children by walking, standing, sitting, reaching, stooping, and crouching
- Manipulating equipment with hands and fingers
- Reading and communicating verbally in person or remotely
- Tolerating bodily fluids, diseases, and moderate to loud noise levels; some travel may be required

Qualifications
- Education & Work Experience
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential with a focus on infants and toddlers at minimum.
- 6 months of experience with infants/toddlers.
- Preferred
- Associate Degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development is preferred.
- 2 or more years of experience with infants/toddlers in a center-based setting is a plus.
- Bilingual (English-Spanish) speaking and writing skills are helpful.

- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing
- Proficient in English to understand and be understood
- Able to maintain and analyze written documents and records
- Understands and communicates effectively with infants/toddlers, parents, and staff
- Other requirements include acquiring CPR/First Aid training, Live Scan Fingerprinting, negative TB results, physical, and passing drug/alcohol testing.
